No reason to panic but it is concerning they looked just as bad as they did in the bubble.

Saturday is a huge game, they need to show improvement

I'm with you, Jan. No call to panic after game 1. But, the alarming thing was just how out of sorts they were early and how little pushback there was for 90% of the game.
Hoping to see them come put flying on Saturday!

Everyone looked flat. Isles have a great coach and system that it brings the best out of its players. They are not that talented on paper.

Quinn should be on a short leash this season as it’s the same old in year 3

Aside from my joking in the previous thread, I would not go nuts over this game. Yes, concerning how unprepared they looked to play, but that could be explained by how young they are and the lack of a typical camp.

Also, let's not forget or downplay the significance of losing the leadership the Rangers had in Staal and Lundkvist in the locker room. Subtract their leadership and add more young rookies equals a higher degree of growing pains. I say ride the wave of growing pains. This is part of the dip in the rebuild, I think last year was buoyed by the last leadership of the old guard.

I am predicting a better game Saturday.

I think he means outside of Barzal they dont have any major star talent.

However they all work hard and play really well together. Kind of like the Rangers of the Torts era.

It’s a team, not a bunch of individuals.

They play a system perfectly suited to their talents. They will be hard to beat.

Rangers on the other hand are being asked to play straight line up and down style, for which they have no players. It’s a finesse team, with some players who are more accustomed to playing with the puck, than without it. If this disorganization continues for a long stretch, something will have to change. Quinn looked baffled by the start, that’s not a good sign.

They’re very young, which was pointed out by Sam and Joe at nauseum, coupled with managements refusal to add veteran presence which was available at very low cost for one year, indicates this a 56 game tryout, and if last night is any indication, it will be a long season

Tell will tell.

Yeah, with the condensed schedule this could get away from them fast.

To me it looked like they never left the bubble.

That team that was rolling at the pause last March didn’t come back to play in August and definitely didn’t show up again last night.

That was definitely a let down

Last night Chytil was 1-6 on faceoffs and they were sending out Howden to take draws for him in defensive zone.

FYI, Dubois was 12-7 on faceoffs last night for a Columbus.

It certainly looks like the COVID shutdown burst the Rangers bubble. (No pun intended).

Dubois is only 22, a star in the making. Fits all the prerequisites the team needs, Question is, how long will Rangers wait to make a move to try and pry him away from Columbus? Or will they?

Only thing I liked last night was Buch and Kreider on the penalty kill. Everything else was bad, really bad

It’s crazy there is no energy or no discipline with any of the players. Don’t know if that is more on the coaches or what. But a few more games like that and Quinn has to be on the hot seat

Outside of Barzal and Eberle, who on your roster ISN’T a hard-nosed, gritty style of player? Don’t let your reading comprehension stand in the way of a good narrative.
Typical... Islanders fan.

This isn’t a knock honestly. Similar to the 2014 rangers. We had one elite player hank you have barzal. The rest are good players but we aren’t talking about the hawks, kings, pens and lightning teams that have won cups.

I have to completely disagree with the Rangers being “outplayed” and “outclassed”.
The Islanders showed me nothing to be impressed with.
Let’s be honest here...the Rangers were atrocious. They were not ready to play. They were not crisp. They were erratic. Whoever their opponent was, they were not winning. That’s how bad they were.

I’m starting to question Quinn. Bad start to last season. Horrendous in the restart. And brutal last night. They are not ready to go...not even close. And that’s on the coach.

Isles didn’t dominate the game at all. Played smart mistake free hockey. That’s their system. They don’t have players that take over except barzal. Rangers showed some flashes but have no identity and the team defense is awful

I think if your game is perfect and you have nothing to work on, you are a flawless hockey player, then you have the right to argue with people on social media, I can see having that kind of free time.

if you are reading this post Tony D, I don't see Barzal doing that kind of crap, I just see him making you look ridiculous out on the ice brah.

Yea. Like some other people said. Islanders played their system and limited mistakes. So they did outplay the Rangers because the Rangers played poopy caca.
