As the 13th forward on the roster, how does a player like Frost crack the lineup barring injury? How does AV know he is any better than he was at the beginning of the season when he did not crack the lineup? Doesn't he need to be playing?

I wouldn't mind seeing him instead of NAK on the 4th line. I understand they have different attributes, but that 4th line with Laughton playing the way he is could become a bona fide 3rd line if Frost shows 50% of his potential there.

As a Flyers fan, I need my players to reach expectations. I need Nolan Patrick to have a breakout season. I need Giroux to be 90 Claude Giroux one last time. I need Sean Couturier to win a second Selke this season. I need JvR to be top three in Power Play goals all year. I need Joel Farabee to be the surprise player of the season. I need the fourth line to hold their own against any line.

I need the very best of this team, right now! I need this team to show why they’re gonna be a force for years to come.

Any of you see the Bellemare reaction to not be skating on a lake in the next outdoor game?

I'm not one bit, especially how they were playing prior to the covid stoppage. Sure their season was soured after the series loss against the Islanders, but ON PAPER their lineup top to bottom is one of the strongest in the NHL and very deep.

Like every other team the biggest factor is the "What ifs" for the Flyers. To me those are Patrick, Lindblom, Farabee and Frost for the forwards and Gus and Ghost for the defense. If those players can contribute without the others in the core falling off a cliff then this team should have a nice 30+ win season.

I agree on the forwards and having Gustafsson and Gostisbehere play well would certainly help. However for me, on the defense it's about Sanheim and Myers. If they can take the next step, that will elevate the Flyers as a team. If they regress, along with the loss of Niskanen, Flyers will be in trouble.

Just5, where are you seeing/hearing hype on Flyguys? Haven’t been able to watch much TV since we played with work. Curious what they’re saying about us

Most are predicting flyers or isles to come out of this division

I won’t get real excited until they show they can play with the isles. That didn’t happen even before the COVID shutdown.

Great to hear. While I don’t take this seriously, NHL21 did a simulation of the season. We won division but lost to Bruins in Conf finals. Hart wins the Vezina!

It is good to take a step back once in a while and realize that almost the entire starting roster for the Flyers are home grown talent, either drafted or signed as undrafted players. The only exceptions are Hayes, Voracek, Braun, Gustafsson and Elliott. Not a bad player development track record!

FLYERS

23 Oskar Lindblom - 14 Sean Couturier - 11 Travis Konecny
28 Claude Giroux - 13 Kevin Hayes - 86 Joel Farabee
25 James van Riemsdyk - 19 Nolan Patrick - 93 Jakub Voracek
12 Michael Raffl- 21 Scott Laughton- 62 Nicolas Aube-Kubel

9 Ivan Provorov - 61 Justin Braun
6 Travis Sanheim - 5 Phil Myers
8 Robert Hägg - 56 Erik Gustafsson

79 Carter Hart

In this case you have to trust the coaching staff, since they see the players practice every day. Also match-ups with the opposing team matter so its possible when the Flyers play I think NJ next the lineup has some changes. The Flyers have one of the best and deepest coaching staffs in the league, we have to trust that they know what they are doing.

No way the Flyers are losing to the Bruins this year! The Bruins lack secondary scoring and don't match up well with the Flyers. The Flyers are a deeper team.

I'm surprised, but I probably shouldn't be, at the number of people who think they're actually going to play on the lake.

The hype is cool. But its been 1 game. And its a weird year where staying covid free could mean everything in a deep division. Plus the isles are superior until proven otherwise. With their own Carter hart level prospect splitting time with Varlamov.

I mean that would be wonderful if Sanheim and Myers could progress even more, but if they continued their steady progress of last year I don't think that would hurt the team much though. It would be nice to see a lot of players get better than they were from last year, but I was just listing additions/youth that can only make the team better with the exception of Ghost who needs an absolute rebound to resurrect his disappointing career to this point.

Yeah I know a few people seem to think the Islanders are the team to beat in the East division because they beat the Flyers in the playoffs, but I expect them to have their own issues this year. Not worried too much about them.

I’m not believing the hype of any goalie until it actually happens, but the Islanders looked like a well oiled machine last night. Rangers had a lot of new faces but the Islanders are the biggest threat in the division in my eyes. That Trouba deal for NYR is ugly....
