Our middle six centers both have full-NTC's. You're not trading Barzal and they don't want Cizikas. Dubois won't come within a mile of the Islanders radar.

Just accept now that he's going to be a Ranger. They have the young players/prospects and the draft capital to make it happen and they desperately need centers. They have an abundance of talent on the wing and can probably afford to lose one of their better young wingers/prospects.

Agreed Chiefs, Davidson also has a pretty good relationship there
If they are putting Ladd on LTIR ( which I have been waiting for since year 2 of his poop deal ) I would think a proven scoring wing for Barzal and PP1 would be in their target. That said Beau, and Sorokin need contracts next year so just having some Cap space would be nice. It would give us Ladd's 5 million of relief ( if needed ) and Casey's 3.9 coming off the books. Also if we are playing well and truly competitive for the Cup, having that relief would come in handy to sign a needed player at the deadline. Looking at the isles up the middle I don't see Dubois or another center as you said on their radar.
Just my opinion of course.

Absolutely this is where smart fans go for their hockey info.

I'm new to hockey so I'm just glad I have Ek and posters like Rodger Roeper to explain the finer points of the game to me. And when it comes to the Cap and issues there of then of course I am grateful for others like .... never mind.

I don't get the feeling that we'll see too many new faces (from outside the org) coming to the Islanders in the next couple years. Lots of guys need deals in the next few years (Beau/Pelech/Sorokin this offseason and Pulock in two years). Unless Lou pulls off some sort of magic trick and is able to move significant salary. That's, of course, entirely possible with the expansion draft coming up...but not getting my hopes up either.

There's always the option to move Bailey since he doesn't have any sort of trade protection but then you're just creating another hole in the top-six and he probably wouldn't fetch a significant return. Maybe Sorokin is a star and Varly gets scooped up by Seattle, which would be the perfect scenario, but that's still a big "maybe" too.

But after next season ends....big money comes off the cap. Clutter/Komarov/Leddy/Johnston/Hickey/Pulock(who knows what happens with him as a UFA). That's about $20.5M in cap space to lock up Pulock and Dobson plus go shopping.

It's going to play out with him ending up being the Rangers 2nd line center when they trade for him

Have they put Ladd on LTIR? I haven’t seen anything on it. I thought they just sent him to the minors?

I thought I read that yesterday.. but it was the same guy who originally had MDC on LTIR so might have been wrong on both.

Agree, so that said there are angles to get cap relief moving forward and also hopefully after next year the Cap will take a jump up which will help as well. The only way they shop imo is if they feel they need to go for it in the next couple of years as the core is getting older.

Islanders need wings anyway. Not that Dubois would not be nice. It's not happening.

Probably not, I just wanted to feel good about scoring a goal.

In all seriousness the Rangers have to score early and often, if they go into the 3rd down by a goal or tied its probably over.

Pretty much what chiefs said though. You don't need centers. No way management is looking at Dubois for you guys.

Now we on the other hand need a center.

If Wahlstrom ends up being a player that's another and a much needed wing.
