Allison in similar boat to Morin. Hope the kids knee holds up.

Keep it going O’Brien. We shall see if it continues or just the extra adrenaline from playing his old club.

Not worried about the majority of our waiver players listed. The league will have a slew of them coming.

Really looking forward to watching the second line of G, Hayes, and Farabee. Hoping AV keeps them together for at least 10 games.

Forward lines look great I agree as long as Patrick is fully back and can show some chemistry with his line mates.

As you know, the worry is on d. Perhaps we can rely on hart to be the gams changer but I worry about Braun on the top pair. If we have solid special teams and can score more on the pp with Gus then maybe it doesn’t matter.

The only silver lining to a Patrick injury (please god, don’t let this happen) is that Morgan Frost should be able to take his place and the team shouldn’t skip a beat.

Again, Patrick is my guy. We should lean hard on him. However, if he can’t hold up, the team can lean hard on Frost.

Has anyone seen a price for the Center Ice Package yet ? I am hoping they don't charge full price for an abbreviated season....The NHLTV package is $99 but we are not making the tech switch from the cablesnake to all streaming right now. TIA!

I remember Patrick showed flashes in the second half of his second year which told me he could really take charge of a game. Has to do it more.

Neat that the team now has depth which includes prospects instead of 4th line vets via ufa isn’t it? Although I like simmer, look what the leafs have had to do? Add aging vets for grit? No thanks. The supporting cast should ideally be young players who can continually improve. If you time it all right, your in the mix to contend. I like how this team is set up for the future. If you’re bored, contrast them with the pens who continually jettison 1st rounders to go for it. I keep saying to my pens fan buddies they need to trade Malkin for prospects picks some point soon or this will be an epic crash of the Franchise

COx cable says it will be 114 for the season, available on the 13th to order with a week free preview

I had NHLtv for the last four years, horrible customer service, some streams looked like grainy videos from the 70s. They say that the issues are with your internet speed, they also like to blame your wifi even if your device is ethernet connected

I think Nolan Patrick will end up being the key to this teams success THIS season. If he can stay healthy and start to become the player he is projected to be, it will be like adding an FA center to the mix who can be a real difference maker.

I like having that kind of prospect depth for sure.

I have to disagree as I think Patrick is a clearly better player than Frost. But I agree with everything else you said.

Hextall signed JvR and Elliott but I guess you mean drafted players.

Obviously Patrick is better, Patrick is a former second overall pick and guaranteed a roster spot.

Probably. Not that you commented on it, but Elliott was a solid signing in my view. Would have been crazy to throw big money at someone when Hart was on the way. Jvr was a mistake. I miss hextall too obviously but am happy that fletch has basically followed on with the approach of draft like crazy and mostly avoid ufa.

As we’ve all talked about before, coots Hayes Healthy Patrick Is a crazy 1-3 punch at c. If he has returned as good as we’re all hearing from reports, he could feast on 3rd c matchups. Confidence goes up and look out cook out.

I agree with everything you state here. Just keep in mind that every good team eventually gets to that point. It's a repeated cycle in pro sports. A team builds up and becomes a top team with players they drafted and developed in their prime. Then wind up signing those players to long term deals and hanging on the veterans and giving up assets to take more runs at it. It rarely works after a team reaches it's peak and heads back down. A GM figures that he may not be around when the team reaches rock bottom and his legacy is set, so the only thing that matters is going for it. In order to foresee it and pull the plug earlier and avoid that, A GM would need the blessing of ownership and the fanbase. Neither is likely to accept an early retool when they feel the team is still a good team.

I don’t think JvR has been a mistake. I don’t think he’s been used properly. Signing a proven goal scorer and placing him on the third line, while offering second unit PP unit is a mistake. Had JvR not got hurt his first season back as a Flyer, JvR would have scored 30 plus easily. We need a legitimate presence around the net.

I’ve said since Hayes was signed that I think he’s the guy that hurts the line up long term. I stand by this. As long as Sean Couturier, Nolan Patrick and Kevin Hayes are in this line up, Morgan Frost has a tough hill the climb.

JvR will always be the easy target but at some point JvR, Voracek and Giroux are all going to have to go. The problem is, G and Jake will likely get to go out on their own terms if they’re decently productive.

as a 2nd overall pick he has to be key to the team's success otherwise he's a bust

My expectation of Nolan Patrick remains the same. He went right into the NHL right after his draft and only missed one season. Patrick has nothing but time. My hope is he becomes the next Eric Staal or Jamie Benn. Either way, I think he’s gonna surpass anything we already have. Today’s third line might actually be our top line.

I second this. But the same thing happens with viewing videos from nhl.com. A few minutes into the video, pictures become blurry.

No problems viewing any other video - Youtube, ESPN, streaming etc.

I would have preferred:

Oskar-Couts-TK
JVR-Hayes-Voracek
Giroux-Patrick-Bee
Raffl-Laughton-NAK

Having JVR with puck possession guys like Hayes and Voracek should create some space for him to sneak into and be ready to whip off one timers. Having Giroux with Nopa should take some pressure off the latter for play-making, and having Bee take some pressure of defensive responsibilities.

The pairing with Provorov is clearly an experiment, so lets see how it goes. I do remember that in game 6 versus Habs, Braun started across from Provy, but then Myers replaced him. I don't think Braun can play 1st pairing minutes properly.

Lets see what happens when Ghost comes back. I hope they give him at least 10-15 games to get some of his mojo back and not start yanking him around as soon as he makes a mistake. Hopefully, even if he doesn't work out, he will be seen as a serviceable top-4 D we can trade with his contract.
