With the revelation about the LTIR situation with Kucherov, I'm not sure why they need to clear room for Getzlaf. If he's expected to be out to start the season, then why can't they just exceed the cap like Tampa did?

I love the Curran signing .. I thought they could play together since Curran plays the RS as a Lefty.

I'm looking forward to having him and Shatty on the points blasting away with Rico as the pivot and Trevor on the halfwall or behing the net and Comtois in front.

First off, you mean Kesler, not Getzlaf. Secondly, I believe you have to be cap compliant once the season starts. You cannot put Kesler on LTIR until then, so the Ducks have to shed salary prior to opening day. Players that clear waivers can be sent to the AHL, thus clearing salary. Kesler cannot be put on LTIR until Wednesday. Ducks have to be cap compliant before then.
