In your opinion does Sam Morin play in 5 or more games this year for the Flyers?

Good read about the prospects in wjc. Watching York, the way he skated and his work at both ends of the ice really reminded me of kimmo. Emil is more promising than I thought.

I can see York turning pro next year. I think brink stays at least 1 more year.

Thanks Bill. I always enjoyed Bill Clement as a broadcaster and will miss him. I'm glad to hear he's as nice as he appears to be on TV. He was a solid player too with an awesome porn-stache.

I'll miss Katie Emmer too. I know she wasn't here long, but I felt she was a quality broadcaster.

Wow, a lot going on in this blog today! I wish Bill Clement a Happy Retirement! Seems like a great guy. I respected his broadcasting work, a little goofy at times but always a pro! Clearly loves the Flyers! As for the Comcast broadcast shakeups: sorry that Katie is leaving as well as Bundy! Cohen was fine but he didn’t grow on me. Glad they kept Taryn, she’s a local who knows her sports! Hartnell, I’m sure will be good but I must admit I still have a bittersweet feeling towards him ever since I saw him literally falling down on purpose ( hence Hartnell down) during a game at the WFC against the Caps. Really pissed me off and apparently his teammates thought that crap was funny too. But I do believe that he loved being a Flyer. So I’ll take the good with the bad.

If you've never read Bill's book, EveryDay Leadership, it's very much worth your time to check it out.

I will miss Katie and Bundy. As for Clement, happy he gets to retire, but will be sad to not hear him do color anymore. Also, he looks well for 70!!

With regard to Hartnell, I remember seeing him do some post game live stuff after he retired and he seemed nervous, stuttered and stumbled a bit. Totally expected though.

What's nice about that though is, I saw him the other night on NHL Network and he's improved so much. Way smoother. Practice does make perfect.

On a side note, not related: Boucher does a fabulous job for NBC Sports.

Hartnell is a movie star im sure he will be fine in the role. All my interactions with him he surely seems to have the personality for it.

Thorne and Clement are still my favorite non Gene Hart broadcasting team.

Back in their heyday seeing nationally televised hockey was still a new thing to me and it just felt like a big game every time I heard that team doing a broadcast. Especially those Avalanche/Red Wings classics of the 90's.

Bill Clement will always hold a fond memory with me.

First NHL/Flyer game I ever attended was in 1990 against the Islanders in the old Spectrum. I remember it was Mike Ricci's rookie year and Joe Reekie was on the Islanders.

My dad was able to get tickets through work and I was so excited, especially since we just moved back from Tampa. Luckily for me living in Florida in the late 80's the Flyers were basically the home team and all games were shown on Prizm or PHL17.

We got there as early as possible and walked around the stadium. I believe that is when I got the Flyers yearbook that had the pictures of Tocchet and Ricci in leather for Rebel with a Cause. We went to our seats and I found out they were row 1 of the upper deck right on center ice. I remembering being a bit scared I would get excited and fall over the railing so I held back a bit, but I had to lean over just so I could take the whole ice surface in.

As I turned around to say something to my mom and dad I spotted Bill Clement turning from the tunnel and start walking up to the booth. I pointed and said "That's Billy Clement!". I guess he heard me or saw me gawking and came over. I could tell he was in a hurry, but still came over and sat down next to my dad to talk to us. I sat there for the most part speechless, but at the end I was able to sqeak out something like "Imagine if the Flyers had Recchi you would really have some fun announcing with Ricci and Reekie in the lineup". He laughed and told us he had to go to get ready, but to me it meant so much that he was willing to spend even a minute talking to us.

For me personally it was and will always be my fondest memory of Bill Clement and I wish him the best in retirement.

agree on this, how about your least favorite?

I liked Taylor with Hart but grew to dislike him as a broadcaster when he went to Tampa

It would have to be any broadcast team with Jack Edwards. That guy is a clown of the highest order. I was also never a big fan of Milbury.

I wanna throw a question out there. I can already feel Claudefather’s attacks but it’s just an interesting game I’m playing I guess.

Where do you think the Flyers would be if they didn’t decide to go in certain directions?

Obviously I’m a Brayden Schenn fan but I do think about the effect his trade has had on this real both positively and negatively.

So we trade Schenn the same day we draft Nolan Patrick. We get Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee in return, which is a positive. We also have had to filled holes so these two young players could develop. Three if you include Patrick.

If we don’t trade Schenn, do we sign James van Riemsdyk? Do we even sign Kevin Hayes?

When I look back, I think to myself, if we trade the older but still talented at the time Wayne Simmonds, we could still make that Blues deal and get Farabee and Frost. We keep Schenn and not sign JvR. If Patrick doesn’t get hurt, we don’t sign Kevin Hayes.

All of our moves are reactionary. Where would we be if we don’t make these moves cap wise?

This should be interesting. I imagine this giant flowchart going in all different directions depending on what decision was made including firing Hextall.

I was a pro Schenn guy myself. Although we ended up getting two very good prospects with those picks it just shows you how long it really takes a prospect to become an impactful player. I want to say we are in a better spot now because of the Hayes signing, probably don’t have JVR which would be nice, but Hayes has fit on this team greatly and provides an element schenn doesn’t. In the end we have just needed to wait for Hart, with our revolving door of goalies we weren’t winning a cup.

Sure its unknowable.

I feel like Pronger getting hurt was the catalyst for a plethora of bad (and good) decisions that got us to the point we are. If we were to create a flowchart, that is where the current state of the team would start.

How much money could Therien have possibly made, to not retain him?

I hate reality interfering with my routine.

I DO like Jon Kincade tho so far but felt bad for Farzetta getting the axe.
