I like the idea... But Carolina needs to find others who the Peg would take and want. I think they have the depth to do it. But those 2 for PL is a big overpay.

All day no. Pesce is a very solid defenseman and Necas seems like he's on the brink of becoming a very good player. Laine is a star but not one without problems, no thanks.

Big add for goals but cap juggling is a tough go. It would require serious thought on future contract decisions or trades. Lastly Laine wants a bigger stage & Carolina doesn’t fit that narrative if true.

I don’t know canes players well but I think a deal would look more like this

Laine (maybe small +) for Neiderreiter, fluery and Suzuki.

Nino has a fairly large contract and is coming of a down year. I considered switching him for skej or Gardiner as those two are more off a cap dump than Nino but I figure the jets are going to need someone to replace laine in the top six if this happens during the season. Fluery and Suzuki have great potential but neither are the best prospects for the canes at their position making them a bit more expendable and furthermore the canes could very well lose fluery to expansion.

Lastly assuming the canes do want to deal a contract back that doesn’t expire this summer I don’t see pesce as a fit. The jets have pionk and demelo already on the right side in their top four and carolina doesn’t have someone to fill pesce’s role internally.

Pesce and Necas may be an overpay, but this deal is junk. Why in the world would the Jets ever consider this.

I honestly wouldn’t if I was the jets but laine’s value is at an all time low after last year and everyone knowing how unhappy he is. I don’t think teams are lining up to trade their top prospects for him right now, the jets would be better served waiting until next off-season to make a deal

Not in a cap league. Also isn't Laine unhappy about playing with a 2C? Wouldn't he get Trochek in Carolina? Cause Laine ain't bumping Svechnikov or Aho.

This deal will not happen for two reasons. It is a tempting idea for Carolina but it will not happen because #1 There is no way the Caps can afford to keep Hamilton Aho Svechnikov and Laine as that will represent about 30 mil of the teams cap just like Toronto where four players eat up a high percentage. #2 You do not make this deal unless Laine agrees to a long term deal and that is unlikely. The kid seems to be all about him and not about the team. I say stay clear despite his big release and potential with Aho and Teravainen. Pesce is a key part of team chemistry and Necas has star potential, especially if he can add some muscle.
