Carol Schram: Justin Bailey re-signs, Sven Baertschi's ready to compete for a roster spot There are still some hurdles to be cleared, but the NHL continues to push closer to returning to play, and seems to be doing everything possible to try to make the Canadian Division a reality. Meanwhile, the Canucks re-signed RFA Justin Bailey to a new one-year deal, and Sven Baertschi's ready to try to earn a roster spot with the big club.

I doubt Sven gets by Green in camp regardless of how he plays.

Maybe these unusual circumstances will provide a way for him where normally he wouldn’t get a sniff.

Thx Carol

Sven faces not only competition given he is in the top 6 & not so suited for 3rd line. Also faces cap decisions to overcome. Green will expect him to force him to get played. It’s his last shot to make the team & needs to stand out in all facets.

I hit my secret Oyster mushroom spot this morning and hit the jackpot, over 26 lbs of really nice oysters and over half are marketable.

Most likely not. If he does manage to crack the line up somehow it will not even be 20 games before he is injured. Can we not just move on from Baertchi?

If he can bump a bottom 6 vet by earning it I’m good 👍

Injury free last season. Keep pushing that myth.

This is exactly how I feel. The Canucks need offence from Bo's line 5 on 5. I'd rather see Sven on that line then LE as long as he looks good in camp.

This idea of not playing him because he might get injured is ridiculous. If it did happen... better on the Canucks than Utica. At least you could bury his salary on LTIR in the NHL. You still take the cap hit if it happens in the AHL.

Are people worried about his health? Well that makes no sense either. The AHL is a nasty league and NHL players who land down there are targeted by players trying to get noticed or are bitter.

lol... like I said, the AHL is a nasty league. Very physical. Head hunters...

You make no sense at all. At least his salary goes on LTIR in the NHL if he gets hurt long term.

Your reasoning is without reason. If he shows up healthy and performs in camp, it should be a no brainer since they are paying him and need the offence. Send a healthy body to the AHL because he may get hurt again is idiotic. That goes for many on this team then. Tanev would have been in the AHL for years...

Some key details:
Flag of Canadasituation not yet sorted out; 4-6 player taxi squad; teams have option to “toll” (carry-over) contracts of player opts out; hope is that season will start Jan 13

So if Loui wants to not play this year it is good to know we can bring him back for two years still if we want .lol
