A bargain for sure! Especially with the RFA rights still intact after the conclusion of those 3 years. I doubt McD and Hedman move, so...... Ship out Coburn, and I guess Killorn/Johnson/Gourde are all fair game. I feel Gourde could be traded quite easily, but Killorn and Johnson may need some retention, or a pick to make a trade happen. |

How exactly does Gourde get traded "easily" when he has a NTC and teams are too broke to take on a $5+ mill/yr contract for long term? |

“ most agreeing that the Montreal Canadiens never should have let him go.”
Well maybe except for the fact that he’s not French and was traded for a player that is French. So really what else matters? |

That's why I think Killorn will be easier to trade. 3 years left at a lower AAV. |

Obviously no Bolt wants to leave that team, Killorn is the easiest to trade, if you couple him with one of their RFA's, they wouldn't lose a pick and that is one less to sign. I think it is time for Tampa to bite the bullet and do just that. Trade Killorn and Cernak for a 2nd or a prospect. Then sign Cirelli for $4M AAV. That puts TB at about $1.5M over the cap, which is much more manageable, especially with all the bodies are signed.

Great value signing that imo takes away the threat of an offer sheet that we care about. Next priority is Cirelli. |

Blame Montreal for trading him. But in Buffalo we blame the GM for passing on him to take Alex Nylander. Murray needed a D-man and it made no sense to pass on Sergachev for Alex who will never be more than a middle six soft perimeter winger. Hopefully Jokiharu will get better but he will never be Sergachev |

Michael Stuart: Sergachev Signs - Michael Stuart
Great contract. He should only get better. Just a kid. Bolts give great contracts to their young for the cap. But fir their older players, not so much Mcdonagh |

I knew there would not be a successful offer sheet on Sergachev. The threat is not real if the player has no intention of signing one. Sergachev has made it quite clear that he likes it here as a team and a city.
I think the same could probably be said for Cirelli.
Remember, according to reports, Bergevin tried to offer sheet Point and Point declined. We may find out later that he tried the same thing with Sergachev as well. The Point offer wasn't publicly known until some time afterwards.
Good signing by Briesbois. Now he needs to move out some salary.

Buddy I love reading your posts. But if no pandemic I bet a few teams offer serge and Cernak a contract. Do you really understand what’s going n with Covid? It’s awful in the hospitals and the sad think is Vinik is bleeding $$$. I love in Tampa it’s terrible. I know Covidiots in Florida rule but really try to understand. |

would gladly take Cernak for a 2nd. |

has nothing to do with french aspect... Drouin was viewed as having a huge upside and sergachev was not a sure thing by any means at the time of the trade. it was a fair deal at the time...
drouin hasn't developed as well as hoped and sergachev has overperformed where people thought he might be... |

It's a plague zone down here. Gov. DeSantis is trying to kill us all with some herd immunity experiment that is destined to fail spectacularly.
Yeah, Covid has smashed sports league revenues across the board. In a world without Covid, we'd see a lot more contracts being signed for longer term and higher dollars. We'd also see more movement. Without Covid-related cap concerns, Johnson might already be gone by now.

Johnson, gone for what? Ask nurses in Tampa and central Florida. In one town east of Orlando every person tubed for Covid is dead and no, not all70 years old.... |

You're preaching to the converted. I know exactly how bad Covid is here in Tampa, in Florida, in the US, and around the world. I'm Mr. Quarantine.
If not for Covid, league transactions would be running closer to normal, league revenues would be normal, and an albatross contract like Johnson's wouldn't seem so albatrossy to potential takers. That's all I meant.

New article about Sergachev's contract negotiations. He confirms that he would have never signed an offer sheet.

I'm still not convinced there will be a season yet. We might be knee-deep in dead bodies by then. Seriously. People around here are acting like there is no pandemic. Not wearing masks. Wearing masks improperly as chinstraps with their noses exposed. Not observing social distancing or taking basic precautions. People traveling to meet with family and friends - the airports were friggin packed and people were lined up to shop in brick and mortar stores for Black Friday. It's nuts.
