Mark howe is my all time favorite defenseman and whom I molded my game after.
As a kid I remember his dominance on the ice and nobody scores with him on the ice.
One of the greatest defenseman in flyers history in my book
I still wear #2 to this day when I play |

Stepfordsam - yes Smith, who is a nothing also traded for a nothing. Both players still have some upside. Sixers get a 22 year old backup center who you hope can replace Howard next year.
Would have rather rolled the dice to see what I have in smith though. Man look at all the wasted sixers picks the last 10 years.

Happy birthday, Simon Nolet!
My first Flyers game was December 1, 1974. The Flyers beat the KC Scouts (great uniforms) 10-0, and I felt so badly for the guy who had just won the Cup with the Flyers a few months earlier and was now part of this expansion team. One completely lacking in the stability that the Flyers provided. |

First event at The Spectrum - The Moscow Circus - Cleary Elementary Field trip
Last Event - Pearl Jam - corduroy
My first event was an Alumni game against celebs. Jason Prestley was there, MacGyver too. I also think Alex Trebeck played in that game too.
It was the first time seeing the ice in person and I was mesmerized.
My first real game was the Flyers vs the Blackhawks in 91 I believe. |

Speaking of Simon Nolet, does anyone remember when he bloodied big bad John Ferguson with a lucky punch? Also, he was the subject of the best sign: After Shero benched Simon, a guy had a sign that said "Fred, why Nolet Simon play?". |

A huge part of my childhood passed away when the Spectrum was torn down. So many Flyers and Sixers games.
Not sure of my first time but I know AC/DC around 2001 or 2002 was the last time I was there. |

Named by business vice president Lou Scheinfeld, Flyers' co-founder Ed Snider's first hire, "Spectrum" was an anagram of sorts. The "sp" stood for sports. The "e" embodied entertainment. The "c" stood for circuses. The "t" was for "theatricals." The "r" represented "recreation." Scheinfeld was fond of joking that the final "um" was for "um, what I nice building." - bmeltzer
I always thought the "um" stood for, "um... maybe they didn't do the roof quite right first time 'round (but it was all good in the long run).":
