This is a slam dunk, and the polls reflect it.

Heā€™s definitely closed a gap on the lofty comparison to nick lidstrom he got when he was drafted. Elite on both sides of the puck and for that reason heā€™s probably the best D in the game today.

Well, we now know what Hedman's ceiling is.

Now, how long can he keep it up?

Let's hope he has a long run at the top like Lidstrom did. Maybe he'll never achieve the same heights as Lidstrom, but maybe he can keep playing at a high level as long as Lidstrom did.

It took him until the age of 30, a little toughness on the team, Doughty was great the beginning of his career and now tailed off, Heddy has been on an uptick for his career. Interesting how different players can be so...different.

Absolutely, I am also sure that some can argue doughty looks worse than he is due to LA being bad and Hedman looking better due to TB being good.

I could also argue that guy Boucher wasnā€™t the best coach for Hedmanā€™s development as he only really started to improve under Jon cooper. I would say hedmanā€™s been underrated the past few years due to him not being able to match the offensive output of karlsson/burns but now that those 2 have tailed off his true value is showing.

As far as longevity goes itā€™s pretty random sometimes. Some players will even have down years and look like their starting to decline to suddenly bounce back for another year or two. As far as hedman goes I think will depend on how strong of a D core Tampa can retain, having a good one will allow them to ease the load on him .
