Kid was 14. I know this columnist regularly sides with the cuck brigade, but the question for normal people is, what is the statute of limitations for dumb things you did before you could even drive?

Frankly its unbelievable in this day and age that something a person does at 14 could destroy their entire life.

People are absolutely aware of what is right or wrong at 14.

You are equating not getting a shot, right now, with the Coyotes as destroying their entire life.

Even if he NEVER gets to play pro hockey, that is nowhere near destroying his whole life.

Every kid who has done something wrong as a minor and had their record expunged should now have them opened up. Let’s find out all the information. This perceived political correctness and canceling out is out of control.

Lots of people do things at 14 that destroy their own life or the lives of people around them, some worse than others.

I wouldn't even say this "destroyed" Miller's life, hockey still has given him access to a great education and the potential to lead a perfectly fulfilling life. If his actions at 14 prevent him from doing something that only a select few have the priveldge of doing as a career, I think there are bigger tragedies in the world.

This is difficult. At what level do we hammer the kid? The only story we hear is that he's a Richard. There are more important factors, can he be educated? Can the target of his ridicule be saved/educated? Both lose if there aren't

As long as your a nice Canadian boy, you can make your teammates drink your semen and you can play in NHL as long as you want.

I totally agree with you. There needs to be some chance of redemption. Make this a learning opportunity for others

Maybe there’s a “Last Chance U” for hockey players? Most of the kids on that have done way worse, yet aren’t completely tossed aside. They’re shown as misunderstood victims themselves, actually.

All the richard had to do was show contrition and actually make a point of standing against bullying. He did not. He only apologized to the people that would be able to secure him an NHL gig.

He really should have had the foresight to get ahead of it whether he actually meant it or not. But, nothing. He's neither remorseful nor intelligent.

Too bad for him.

Let me explain something to you all who are wondering why something he did when he was 14 should haunt him forever.

I was bullied as a child. Severely. I am still haunted to this day by some of the actions committed by the bullies in question.

I'm 45.

Why should it follow this piece of human garbage? Simple. Because I'm damn sure the memories follow his victims. (I used the plural because usually the actions aren't limited to just 1 person, even if we only hear about 1.)

Hockey writers have become the most predictable writers on the planet. If they collectively ever had an original thought, it would die of loneliness.

Thank goodness. Never forgive and never forget. Obviously no one can ever repent or make amends for their actions because our actions, no matter how far in the past they are, define who we are forever. Make a racist comment in 1980? Buddy you better believe you shouldn't have a job in 2020, there's no sorry that can excuse that. We live in a post-forgiveness, tolerant utopian society and there's no place for "reformed" bigots there.

Anyone trying to defend this scumbag is, well.....probably also a scumbag. 14 year olds know better than to pull that crap. My only hope is that this privileged POS gets his.

I wonder if the outcome would be the same if it was an elite prospect other than a fringe prospect.

Actions always have reactions every parent should teach this. At least now every bully with aspirations who see this just might think twice about their actions. This as is has potential to alter many bullying situations from here on out...

I hope there is healing for all involved . The boy the performed the act I hope gets continuous help for what ever is causing his actions and for the person receiving the offence to be able to live freely from it .

I'm sorry you went through that... But is real justice mean both parties must suffer equally in severity and length?
Would you rather have the same harm done to your bullies or that they change to become better people? I was bullied growing up being a visible minority, but no consequence to the bullies will ever erase what I went through, I'd rather see someone be educated, changed and truly apologetic.

Now if there is new evidence that he's been unrepentant or unwilling to change then I think this is fair judgement, it just doesn't seem like the case...

Interesting to me is the talk is all of the perpetrator. Put yourself in the place of the victim. That kind of damage may never heal. Poor bully doesn't get to live out his dream isn't that unfair. "Do unto others" loser then you wouldn't be watching everything you ever wanted go down the drain because of something you did.
