Ben Shelley: San Jose's offseason additions leave few spots to be won in camp

The bottom 6 is pretty rough. Would like DW to take advantage of a poor market for the UFAs and get a bargain with the remaining cap space to bring a little O to that 3rd line.

If you are going to address needs then DW needs to sign an FA Dman...Sharks need to replace Dillon and Middleton is a 6D at best..more like a 7-8D.

Kellman played well both ways as a 4C and training camp with show who else plays on the Big Club. Gambrell has been a disappointment and while True and Letunov held their own for a short time period, they may still be better served playing AHL hockey this year. The compact schedule may see them move up and down. Noah Gregor has a shot here as well.

The guy to watch for later is Blichfield...he is a sniper with good O zone skills and has scored from some pretty difficult angles. Probably not much this year but give him another couple years of pro seasoning..

I agree with the previous statement saying Alex True held his own. Out of all the young players last year, and the ones mentioned as final 2 options.....I think he's a solid choice and see potential.

Good point... I think with the perceived depth on defense people (at least I have) kind of forgotten that the 3rd pairing/7th dman needs a look.
