If they can lock up Strome for a year or two around $5M I believe that with Tony's "discount" they should be able to fit Kravtsov's bonus money in the cap.

Kreider - Zib - Buch
Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Laf - Chytil - Kravtsov
Lemieux - Howden - Gauthier

Not a whole lotta grit there but that's 4 lines that can put the puck in the net. Laf can start on the third line and play PP until he inevitably earns his way up the lineup. In the meantime he will most likely boost Chytil and Kravtsov's games

I really don’t see how TB keeps Cerelli. Doesn’t seem like anyone wants or can do them any favors taking on a contract/cap dump. Offer them a 1st 3rd and one of the lower/mid level prospects and call it a day. The 1st and 3rd would be the compensation if we offer sheeted him, but I’m not a fan of that bc some day we might be in that spot.

I feel like Tampa Bay's cap situation is even more impossible than people tend to portray it.

They are in terrible shape and are very lucky the won the Cup and it doesnt get any easier for them next year, in fact its even worse because they are lucky this coming year to have Coleman at 1.8, Paquette at 1.6 and Goodrow at 925K and then they are all UFA's

and then in summer of 2022 they are staring at an extension for Brayden Point for 11 mil a year

I don't know how they are pulling this all off, but I love that no one is helping them out

Why would anyone feel bad for a team that just won the cup?

Chytil wont slide to RW, thats his off wing. He has a hard enough time playing the positions hes supposed to be good at.

it's probably a million times accurate that Sergachev is more important to them already than McDonagh is and even more in the coming years.

They'd probably love to give Sergachev his money if they could

I agree, no to Reinhart.

Chytil has not shown me anything in the last 2 years that hes got the ability to be a 2C, and especially not a 1C. Did you know hes 6'2, 205lbs? For such a big body, he plays like hes 5.8, 175lbs. He sucks on faceoffs, defensively just good enough, and I never see him body up on guys. To me hes a LW that the Rangers wish could play center because of the lack of depth they have at the position.

Buchnevich is a decent player however he doesnt strike me as the type of player who elevates the guys around him. I think Kravtsov is where the money is at and we cant keep both of them.

I think our future 3C is going to be Morgan Barron, he screams all the tools to be a solid good hockey player.

You make very strong points and I totally see your perspective.

Don't know why but I see so much potential in Chytil. He's only shown us glimpse's of how talented and dominant he is, and I guess I am expecting those glimpse's to increase over time. Maybe I'm just a life long Rangers fan who's wishing too much and it's clouding my view of him.

Keeping both Kravtsov and Buchnevich is not only possible, but to me is very wise. (Kravtsov has started off really well in the KHL this year btw). Having Buchnevich to mentor and help ease Kravtsov's adjustment to the Team and the NHL is something that needs to be considered.

I forgot about Barron and loved your analysis of him.

Bottom line is that these are all such good problems for the Rangers to have. And I believe we are all confident with JD in charge, not only will the best roster decisions be made, but even better days are yet to come.

Have a great weekend.

the thing about Chytil is that he's cheap this coming season and his performance bonuses are cheap too, and we need that desperately

https://www.capfriendly.com/players/filip-chytil

we need that this year, this would be a good year for him to finally put it all together

I hear you. But, I have my doubts that the top line on day 1 is the place where he will succeed.
This kid is about to wade into a deep, deep pool. He should be brought along in stages. Wherever possible, since it is not like he’s going to stay in Juniors. To me, that means starting on the 3rd line until his game picks up speed and he adjusts to bigger, faster, stronger, smarter and more experienced competition.
It’s not like he will stay off the top line very long, I hope!

From all indications Lafreniere can drive play. No reason he can't start there to start the season to see how things go. Let him get his feet wet in the NHL before he is on the top line.

Its not that I dont think he should come in stride or start on the third line, but our third line is such rubbish that I feel it would be more detrimental then educational for him.

Totally agree.

We must not set this kid up to fail. Quinn is supposedly good with the kids. Kakko improved last year, we all saw a difference in his game in the return to play tournament.

Hopefully the same will apply to Lafreniere's first year. Quinn is the key, along with his linemates.

I don't think a line of Lafreniere/Chytil/Gauthier is rubbish, but thats just me.

Its a very weak and inexperienced line. The oldest person is 23 and spent the last year playing on the 4th line. Who is going to watch out for, protect and give pointers to LAF on that line? Chytil? A player whos being falsely convinced that hes a center?

Cody Ceci signs a 1 year, $1.25 million deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Good fit for both and opportunity for Ceci to reset like others are doing on short term deals.

Let’s not forget Chytil just turned twenty (frank)ing one 4 weeks ago. He’s a kid. To say he’s a bust when most his age are still in the AHL is absurd.

This just makes me hate the Jack Johnson move even more. If they are moving ADA to the offside easily could have done something like this to fill in the 3rd pair on the right side. Basically the same money to.
