Odd to see people thinking Hawks made out on this. Zadorov’s analytics show 3rd pairing D (who can hit for sure but sounds like he resigned for 1 year) for top-6 two-way winger and $1 million retained. The Hawks board voting this a definite mistake by Bowman.

Well we knew Z was done in Denver but for Brandon Saad? I don't know. Hawks fans, can he score 30 goals again and get back to 50 points a year with a centerman like Kadri? What can you say about Gilbert? Just a throw in?

Trades like this are why Hawks fans have been calling for Bowmans head.

Chicago needs this kind of defenseman now, Saad’s expiration date has past.

Zadorov is a 3rd line d-man, good for a big body on the d line, Avs have Byram coming up so Zadorov is expenable. Saad seem reliable for 30-40 points a season, so decent for a 2nd or 3rd line winger, help out Kadri when Donskoi goes cold again

Saad, Kadri, and one of Compher, Donskoi or Nichushkin could make for a very nice matchup line to roll out after the big-3. I think this is a nice move for Colorado as a contingency to Hall not working out (assuming that's what this move signals).

I can't comment on how sadd will work with Kadri. However 25 to 30 goals is very realistic, you'll enjoy watching him. He is a smart two way player, with a net front presence. Lots of compete and hockey iq. Speed won't be an issue, and proven playoff warrior. He could benefit from slowing the game down occasionally. Many missed opportunities last year because he was always at full speed.

Gilbert didn't play much with the big club. He couldn't crack the line up on the NHL's worst defensive team... not a good sign. He needs some more seasoning in the AHL. But at 23 years of age time is running out for that. What i did see from him was lots of physicality and no fear of dropping the mitts. Sometimes his eagerness to play the body lands him out of position, in his own zone, and then the puck is quickly in the back of your net. Not great at flipping the ice either.

Great move. Saad and Burakovsky together just elevate the 2nd line and 2PP which was tough to overlook when the big 3 were off or we needed more goals. Zadorov although big, doesn’t have a shot.. moves slower than most of our D and has never materialized into anything more than a 3D. Smart swap. Connor Timmins time has come

Mostly likely not but possible. He's not a great finisher and limited ability on PP. Good 2 way player and should score in the 40s. He played his best in Columbus when he had a bigger role. Gilbert has some grit but most likely ahl player. Could fill in on bottom pair in a pinch. I'm a hawks fan

could he? I"m sure he "could", but staying with a more 20 goal expectation is more realistic, especially if he doesn't have an elite center.
