Last time I checked, I believe Aho was listed at 177 lbs. Not easy to outmuscle those big forwards who set up camp in front of the crease when you're that size. #Hickey 2.0

AS my old coach used to say.,... It's not the size of the Dog in the firght. It's the fight in the dog.

These reporters and analysts crack me up. Two months ago they probably knew little about Pulock and likely had no idea the Islanders even had a player named Toews. Now they can speak authoritatively on these players' attributes as they discuss their best and most likely tickets off the Island.

#Isles tender qualifying offers to RFAs Mathew Barzal, Ryan Pulock, Devon Toews, Josh Ho-Sang, Kyle Burroughs, Grant Hutton, Mitch Vande Sompel and Parker Wotherspoon.

G Linus Soderstrom not on that list.

Yup, that makes for a nice inspirational speech, but let me know if or when Aho is able to move a 220 lb forward without taking a penalty. Besides, from what I remember about Aho in his short stint with the Isles a couple seasons back, he didn't show a lot of fight.

Soaking wet I just don’t see him being much of an NHLer. Just my opinion.

At least Hickey was tough. Aho’s deal is below.

Sebastian Aho #Islanders
$725,000 AAV / 2 year contract extension
2-way year 1 and 1-way year 2

2020-21: $700k NHL / $275k Minor ($325k guaranteed)
2021-22: $750k

I suppose that's affordable for a 7/8 d-man. Maybe they can 3rd pair him with Boychuk in an emergency?

I guess so 7. John is not wrong being concerned with Aho's size. Aho seems to have good skill but unless he gets stronger it will be a problem. I'm a little surprised Aho did not go overseas.

It’s been my concern about him from the beginning. Never really a fan, but I’m sure you know that

I blame Barry. I trust him so much I think he can even help Aho.

Wow.. lotta Aho hate on here today. I liked him when he played for the NHL club. He was fast, solid and didn't look out of position at all... The fact that he is our 7th or 8th D-man at best speaks to the depth of this team on D. There was a time not very long ago where he would be getting top 4 minutes with 1 injury.

I hope that they have to empty the bank to make it happen.

So do I wait until after the draft to be free?

Lou has some work to do. It will be interesting see what he can swing before, during and after the draft. I do not see this team staying intact. Honestly, I would like to see some changes.

AHO is a depth signing. Give the team some flexibility to make some moves.

Other teams will be improving so it will be interesting to see what the Isles can get done.

Of course they are improving. The Rangers for example will look a lot different after tonight. There are some tough pieces that Lou has to address both on long and short term time lines.

The only that will be disconcerting is if we are no better by the start of free agency because there is little to no money in the bank.
