I seriously do not see him signing with Montreal for an extra million. I would be shocked if he went to Montreal.

Its either here at a discount or Detroit getting paid to go home IMO.

I don't know, he's only played for two coaches as a pro. Getting reunited with Claude might be tempting and you know the Habs will loosen the purse strings.

man...15 years since he was in Ottawa. Time sure flies. Hope he stays a Bruin, the league is gonna miss him when he's gone.

Krug was underwhelming in the games I watched this postseason. But, here's the thing. If you let him walk, then who do you have in the pipeline to replace him? Sure, he's going to get overpaid on his next contract, but the market for defensemen is filled with guys who are going to be overpaid. Anyone decent you can find is going to cost Krug money or better.

Keep Chara. Cheap, one year term, as usual.

Love Chara. Really do. I have concerns about the cap hit and his role. At this point I think he is holding McAvoy back. Not for lack of talent or situational awareness he is now visibly steps behind.

Is he willing to be a 7th D? If so, does he still wear the C and be scratched?

After the bubble life and uncertainty for next year (late start, maybe no fans in attendance) it's remarkable Chara sounds so motivated to keep playing. Between this and the broken jaw last year I'm in awe of his dedication. There would be nothing wrong with sitting back and enjoying retirement after an remarkable career.

That said, 43 is ancient in today's NHL. The decline isn't debatable and at some point the party has to end.... So good luck in figuring it all out.

Personally, I hope he plays another year.

I think he want to retire but I think he envisioned himself retiring in front of home fans (in Boston) rather than in front of no fans at the Toronto bubble. I think this is what he's hanging on too!

He's still more than capable as a bottom pairing PK specialist. He was a $2mil cap hit this season and if we can get him for anything less than that I say go for it. Where we need to be cautious is with Debrusk. He needs a bridge contract. Took a step back this year and is still too streaky and gets "moody" because of that. As I said before, Krug or Griz but not both, we need more meat on the back end.

#33 1 year 1 mil
* reduced minutes, PK

#47
* What does he really want for term & $
I would prefer he stay. Possibly not more money than krech, berg, march or pasta.
Does 6.5 for 6 get it done? Unfortunately that sounds like a hometown discount. Would be scared to go north of 7 mil per

I'd be okay with $1.5 mil on Z. For Krug, $6 mil per for 6 or $6.5 mil for 5. Again, if Krug is signed, trade Griz.

He’s got a great relationship with Blashill. Coached him at Michigan state. Credits Blashill with being the biggest reason he made the show. My moneys on Krug wearing red and white next year

I love Krug but you have to let him walk because I think Gryz can do the job for a fraction of the price. Frankly I think Gryz is the better defender and 5v5 player. Between Mcavoy, gryz, Vaak or even Achan I think the PP will be fine. Not every good Bruin can stick around for 10+ years unfortunately

Im torn as well, but I feel strongly Gryz cannot come close to replacing Krug offensively. Krug is the PP catalyst and I think the PP along with everyone’s production goes way down.
I do love the potential of Mccavoy and feel with those glimpses of taking the game over with his skating and puck handling he can develop the confidence to be a dominant PP QB...

It’s hard cause if Krug wants #1 cash, he’s not there. He’s no where near a Hedman.

Krug is barely a second pairing d-man. He is a PP specialist. He's a defensive liability particularly in the playoffs. No matter what he does, he will always be 5'9". You can get by at 5'9" in the playoffs as a forward...as a d-man you are going to get pushed around no matter how much you bulk up.

Love Krug, but it's time to move on. He deserves to get paid, but the Bruins shouldn't be the ones to do it. Between McAvoy/Grzelcyk, I think you can make up what you lose with Krug. And the problem is not the defense - the second and third lines can't score against good teams. Sign Krug you can't fix the forward group.

Unfortunately I agree with this. I seriously love Krug but I think it’s time to move on. Mcavoy might not be the best pp d man but it doesn’t mean he can’t run it. PP is the only place we’ll miss krug

uh huh... ok. well the Bruins can’t score 5on5 and now you want to weaken the PP. Careful what you wish for.
