They wouldn’t retire number until full houses are allowed. And yes, his number should be retired ASAP.

Won't the Rangers possibly lose one of Georgiev or Shesterkin in the expansion draft even if Lundqvist is gone? If so they might as well trade one if that is the case.

Maybe trade one of them before expansion.

In a perfect world, Hank retires and like TJ said do the celebration during a packed MSG.

I would not mind Hank getting a job as Allaire's understudy. Allaire is getting old

If there is a market now for one, it could be a risk to wait right before the expansion draft. At that point there might be multiple teams looking to trade a goalie with few teams actually looking for one. Only teams that can and will protect that goalie will want him. No point in trading assets to risk losing that goalie in the expansion draft for nothing.

I guess the Rangers could possibly keep both Georgiev and Shesterkin and make a deal with Seattle for them not to pick one of their goalies.

One available player must be a goalie who is under contract in 2021-22 or who is a restricted free agent having received a qualifying offer from his team.

Wouldn't this mean Georgiev is not exempt since next season will be his 3rd season and he will be a RFA right before the expansion draft?

They'll need to sign someone to expose for the draft. Igor is exempt. Hank is an UFA. Georgiev can be protected if he's not exempt.

I was looking at it wrong. Georgiev is a RFA now and Shesterkin will be a RFA right before the expansion draft after 2 seasons. Not sure if the 1st and 2nd year players are exempt means going into their 1st/2nd season or after finishing their 1st/2nd season. If it's going into their 1st/2nd season then that would mean both Georgiev and Shesterkin need to be protected and one would be exposed. Anyways if that were the case i guess they could always make a deal with Seattle to not pick who they can't protect.

That's possibly the plan. We have no clue how good an actual coach Hank would be though. Maybe time would heal all wounds, but it also might not be a good idea to have someone coach a goalie tandem who bumped him to the third string. He might not really want to coach them.
