Look for a better option, if none is to be found, 2 year deal max.

Ryan Strome is a good player who I believe wants to stay with the Rangers. If the Rangers cannot obtain an upgrade over him ( ex. Cirelli, etc. ) then its not a horrible situation if we have to bring him back. A one or two year deal averaging $5.5 mill/season would be ideal, anything exceeding that will be problematic.

This is some game. Flames and Stars. Stars had tying goal. Perry clearly interfered with Talbot

Almost as bad as Dwight King interfered with Lundqvist.

Edit. They tie it with 11 seconds left.

The way I feel about Strome is simple.

1. We either make a trade for a younger, cost controlled asset who is equally as skilled as him. (i.e., Cirelli).

2. We keep him, and give him a bridge (or bandaid deal) so we have a 2C, while we wait to determine whether Chytil can be the guy to fill that role.

Personally, I look at TBL with 9 players with a NTC/NMC. The only 2 that dont of their top 6 are Point and Kucherov, they arent going anywhere. Theyll do everything they can to keep Cirelli but I cant imagine Palat, Gourde, Johnson or Killorn waiving their NTC unless its to go to a cup contender. Most of which have their own cap problems. What I had suggested before was making a trade for Cirelli and Palat, going the other way would be the CAR 1st, Buch and something additional.

The other "problem" we have is dealing with DeAngelo (who to me resembles partly of the situation we had with Del Zotto).

Before we traded Skjei I actually thought he was starting to remind me of Del Zotto

I can’t imagine how having a 24 year old RHD that was on pace for a 64 point season is a problem. He’s gotten better every year since we got him, and now all we talk about it how hell be gone next year. Ridiculous. Lock him up and we’ll have the deepest RHD in the league.

Someone I think we should target as a 4th line center is Trent Frederic. 51% on the dots during his 15 games with the Bruins and plays a tough physical game. Perfect 4th line center that could slot up to the 3rd line if needed. Zib/Strome/Barron/Frederic

Yes, fourth liner, but not the key part of a trade, which was rumored in the Nash deal.

Straight swap for Howden? I think they have similar upside maybe Howden slightly higher but Frederic brings the faceoffs and toughness we’re missing in the lineup

Then what are you doing with Strome? If replaced by Cirelli, you then need to move him, if able. If not, unsure you walk away from his arb figure. Is Palat playing in your top-six making $5.3 mil the next two seasons? Even if yes, is that the best place for him? I love Cirelli, he was my target in the McD trade, Tampa Bay wisely didn't move him then. I think Johnson may be the one gone.

Problem is hes terrible defensively and off ice issues supposedly. The other issue is Nils Lundqvist is also a RD.

If we could use him to pull a LD (like Hampus) paired with Fox we would have one of the top defensive pairs in the league.

We cant keep everyone, we have to think long term and what it will cost to keep him. In a flat cap that we dont know how long will last, we dont want to get stuck. Fox isnt going anywhere and will need a raise. Trouba is locked up and not going anywhere either.

I agree I see Johnson as the odd man out in Tampa, however he has a NTC. However if I remember, hes a bit sketchy with his health. I cant imagine him waiving his NTC unless its a cup contender, but most of them have their own cap issues to resolve.

Anaheim I could see as a team thats trying to rebuild and may be interested in Strome. Id love to pull Hampus Lindolm from them to give us an amazing top pairing D.

Would love Lindholm to pair with Trouba.

The flat cap, for atleast the next 2 years, can really work in our favor. With the amount of money we will be freeing up.

I don’t think acquiring a defenseman is much of a priority.

If we acquire a guy like that too, it’s another guy we gotta protect

Add whatever to make it work, mid round pick. Just an idea, but I want Frederic

He was fine defensively during the regular season, the playoffs he was playing hurt and it showed.

I agree he alone isnt enough to get Lindholm, but if we put DeAngelo in the trade it might get very very close.
