Any other job in the world it would be ok, but in your eyes this in unacceptable! Jesus Christ.
He wants to be with his newborn. Holy (frank) dude.

Ya it sucks for the team but we will be fine.

This sucks. Having Tukka in is the best thing for the fans, the team, and the league.

Any other job that just had 4 months off would get the same reaction.
And they would not get paid to boot.

It's ridiculous he makes this decision now - after 2 games have already been played.

Crazy that the first player to walk out on their team was a starting goalie leaving 7M in dead cap space as opposed to some benchwarmer scrubs that make league minimum.

Also, I remember when his teammate, Patrice Bergeron played through a punctured lung, broken rib and separated shoulder in the playoffs.

The good nes for Boston is that Halak is a capable playoff goalie. Had this happened to a team like Montreal it would be game over.

I think you need to read Sweeney’s statement. He said something along the lines of

“This wasn’t really a surprise, we’re privy to info the public doesn’t have. His priorities are in order, we 100% support him”

Sounds to me like Tuukka:
had concerns from day 1
informed the team
came to the bubble and gave it his best shot
Decided he wasn’t into it and it wasn’t worth it

It’s shocking to us fans but I’ve yet to hear ANYTHING that implies Tuukka simply bailed on his team

So if it was Ritchie it would be ok to be with his newborn but since it's Tuukka , that's a no?
Seriously, we are gauging a person's needs to be with their family based on their wage?

Family comes first always.

Reading comprehension not your thing?

The point is that, had some players whose teams are not highly dependent and heavily leveraged on them already quit the bubble then this would not be as big of a deal. The fact that the first person to do it is a starting goalie of a favoured team is not ideal at all.

Now you can go back to your strawman monologue and willful miscomprehension.

I don't think the team would throw him under the bus - they would protect him.

So we really have no idea when the decision was made.

Carolina is probably more upset over this than his Boston team mates, the Hurricanes had Rask on the ropes, had his number & was ready to seize the series, now it will be motivation for the Bruins!

Had you not added the comment about Patrice playing through horrible injuries I would agreed with your comments. Adding it gives the impression that you feel Tuukka bailed for no good reason where Patrice didn't while being serious injured.

You do realize it is possible to contrast the relative commitments of Patrice and Tuuka without implying “Tuuka bailed for no good reason...” right?

That's true, but I didn't take it that way.
Regardless, I feel Tuukka did what he thought was best for himself and his family.

Still friends?

not surprised at all after his comments saying these playoffs are just exhibition games. his entire team worked for months and is playing hard every night only to have their most important player act like it doesn't matter. go home, stay home

I don’t like Halak. For good reasons. I love the Bruins but with Rask opting out I don’t know
