I agree. I'm not a JvR basher, trying to be objective. But I don't think he played well last night.
- jmatchett383

Agreed but he did have one good drive to the net with the puck. I actually thought he might squeeze it through.

Why is discussing what didn't go well and who didn't play well not legitimate and viable for discussion?
- MJL

I'm not saying it's not a viable discussion. I'm wondering why we automatically went to the negatives as opposed to the positives.

I was pumped as hell, great game by the young D, coots, Farabee , Hart. I liked grant and Thompson too
- ClaudeFather

I thought Myers was absolutely fantastic last night. But really, this was mostly about Hart. I think we finally have our playoff goalie.

some guys will take a little longer to get going....he's only played 4 games...had some good looks last night but his play was sporadic again. Hopefully he can get it going, because they will need everyone on board to get this thing done.

Hart had a pretty good game last night, but with the way Montreal transitions, the Flyers can’t afford to turn the puck over like they did. Only a matter of time before they start going in the back of the net, even with the Canadiens lack of scoring.

Myers was great...he bailed out Sanheim a couple of times. he moves so fluidly for a big man...great find by the Flyers,

A healthy Weber's beard is a deadly weapon, and also a place to start a small fishing colony.

Yeah I know, asking too much too soon.

ARGH OMG THEY ONLY WON A LITTLE BIT!!!

But seriously, the Flyers could win 4 straight Cups and people (not naming any posters specifically, general statement) would be trying to find things that didn't go well: "Well the 4th line didn't generate much in the 6 minutes of TOI they had in Game 3 of the second round."

I'm all for discussing what improvements can be made, but we just won a playoff game for the first time in 2 years. Can we just take a few moments to be happy about that before discussing the flaws?

Just for a little perspective, the title of this morning's column on the Flyers-Habs series by Arpon Basu, who covers the Canadiens for The Athletic is titled: "If the Canadiens are encouraged by Game 1, that's a bad sign for Game 2."

Need more "him hit?" I prefer "him transition puck out of defensive zone and can navigate neutral zone."

I'm not a JVR basher, but he is a soft player that just doesn't seem to compete at a high enough level come playoff time. I did a little research when they brought him back and a stat that stood out to me was that his ice time in TO decreased by 3 minutes in the playoffs compared to the regular season. He simply needs to up his compete level or he is going to find himself sitting in the press box as a healthy scratch. There were a couple of times last night where the puck was available in the corner and he looked scared to get hit. That has to change! Ok, maybe I am a bit of a JVR basher.

Did you check to see if his most common linemates had their times reduced as well? In the playoffs, you're more likely to play your top-end players as much as possible. Also, there tend to be fewer penalties, so a player who plays often on the PP will see a drop in that time as well. Just curious.

Guy is still a monster. There was a play just inside the offensive blue line where Weber and Farabee were both going for the puck towards the boards. Weber started lining him up and Farabee was basically like, “take it, it’s yours.” Can’t say I blame him lol.

Ghost struggled in the 1st and most of the 2nd. Was fine after that. I’d leave him be.

My research didn't really go that deep. I just noticed that his minutes went from 17 in the regular season down to 14 minutes come playoff time.
