Is the 20/21 season supposed to be an abbreviated season?
- Rinosaur

I believe it's still supposed to be 82. Lots of B2B's if true. Even if they extend the regular season through April.

I've read the NHL won't start a season until fans can be in the seats 'cause it's such a gate driven sport.

Anybody think fans will be packing the seats in December or January? Me neither.

Wow. How are you really feeling Ryan? How has that pathetic man been in the game this long? They ran into a hot goaltender. It happens

It was, maybe still is, hard to have a nuanced conversation about Kessel on this board. I think both are PP specialists unsuited to top 6 duty at this stage of their careers and they could only keep one. Despite perception, Hornqvist is more valuable. The PP with Kessel went from 11.53 goals per 60 with Hornqvist to 6.72 without. It was 9.9 when Hornqvist played without Phil, but small sample. Over a 3 year sample, it's more extreme.

That said, could you talk me into moving Hornqvist, sure, but if they don't replace his net front, I have no hope for the PP. They need a better long-term solution than Jake there regardless.

But at least Hornqvist can still score 5v5. Phil can't. But yeah, he needs the other to guys to drive the line and handle transition for him particularly at his age.

- Tojo.

We should have more than enough skill to score on the pp as is. A new coach is needed, and obvi now on the way. Hopefully he’s a good one.

Wow, COL with a 40-14 SOG advantage over ARI. Scoreless tie until 6:55 left in the 3rd. Then 3 goals in 1:18.

Do the red wings need a goalie? Anyway the pens could get Bertuzzi out of Detroit for Murray and/or a 1st?

I'd like to have Bertuzzi, don't know what their future looks like in the next few years. I guess Feds has been banned again, he's not around to answer haha. Anyways if they aren't gonna be competitive for a few years they may as well trade those younger guys for picks.

Wow was just looking at Detroits roster, they are (frank)ing putrid. Literally Bertuzzi, Mantha and Larkin look to be their best players. I'd take Bertuzzi or Mantha. I'd probably dangle the #15 their way for one of them.

It's hard to evaluate Murray's value in a trade given so many variables are unknown. We dont know how many teams are looking for a goalie (I can think of at least half a dozen), how many other goalies will be on the market, and what Murray is looking for in a new deal.

If a lot of teams are looking for a goalie and Murray is one of the few solid goalies available... I could easily see a team pay a decent young roster player to get him. Teams like Colorado stickout.

I dont like the idea of using a valuable trade chip just to dump a contract like Johnson. If you want to get rid of Johnson, buy him out or bury him. We cannot afford, as a low asset franchise, to be trading good assets just to dump a liability.

Im good keeping either Murray or Jarry. Whatever one can get you the best help via a trade, you take that deal and keep the other one.

I agree, except for the Murray/Jarry thing. Murray will cost more so we must move on from him. It's the same situation as Fleury/Murray. I'd trade JJ and 5th for a 7th all day though lol

Feds would just overvalue anything in Detroit and undervalue anything in Pitt

Here's a list of the FA goalies this year:

https://www.capfriendly.c...s/2021/Sv/all/goalies/ufa

Not great. But Murray's .899 this season would put him at 12 on that list, although he's definitely the youngest.

I agree about JJ.

Have to keep Jarry at this point. The last 3 years have made that clear.

I have wanted the Pens to get Lehner in the past and I hope they still do. Him and Jarry would be a great tandem. You know, Khudobin has been really good the past couple of years even if he is 34 now.

Pretty sure they wouldn't trade any of them. They might be interested in Murray but I doubt they pay very much for him. I'd say his value tops out at a 3rd. I wouldn't want anyone else on their roster besides the three you mention. They truly are putrid.

Edit: I should say, I don't know anything about their prospects, so some of them might be and probably are good, but I'm sure they're not getting rid of them, either.

Bertuzzi is exactly the type of player the Pens need to be pursuing. He would lay down and die to get out of the bubble.

What would you be willing to give? What does Detroit need that we can offer?

Would love Mantha or Larkin from Detroit but I dont see either getting traded. Detroit is rebuilding but those two are still young and talented.

Imagine bringing in Larkin as the 3C...

15th, Murray and a mid level prospect? Not sure what it takes or if it totally makes sense.

With his age and pedigree. He should net us a late 1st or 2nd round pick. The second round pick would be more so if they try to package out JJ or Bjudstad.

I have heard some Edmonton fans proposing Nurse for Murray. Which I am definitely not opposed to.

Some reports out of Toronto is Nylander might be shopped for D help.
