As a Calgary fan you can have Colorado, I watched Mackinnon single handily destroy us last year and their team has only gotten better this year.

I really don’t think there is anyone on Vegas capable of taking over a series and doing what he did to us. On the bright side though it appears we’ll likely get St. Louis and Binnington did just let in 6 goals the other night

If Richardson hadn't put in the game winner, Grabner would have.
Tanner must have been in anguish watching these two win the game for the Yotes.

You grossly underestimate the Avalanche. That said, it'd be nice to see whether Guadreau learned anything from last year or whether him and the Flames get steamrolled again.

Believe me I really like mark stone and think he’s up there with the best but while not saying mackinnon is as good as mcdavid he’s in that same tier of players that can win a game on their own. As well Colorado’s goalies have shown better so far and their team in general has looked like the best in the round robin so I’m going to pick the hottest team as the one I don’t want to see. Especially after st.louis parlaying a hot streak into a Stanley Cup last year

His lines been good on the power play but outside of that he hasn’t looked good or bad so far which when compared to last year I’ll call that a success.

The tkachuck line appears to be as good as any no. 1 so I’m not too worried about it and the lucic/Bennett/Dube line is still nothing impressive analytically speaking but has been dominate physically and has even managed to put some points on the board.

Defence (specifically hanifin) and wether or not can talbot can keep it up are the largest of my concerns right now.

Not saying we have a good chance to make it through if everything lines up perfectly but we aren’t a good enough team to have any holes if we want to go deep

Big surprise everyone. Kuemper is solely responsible for the Coyotes winning the series.

Had nothing to do with Richardson dominating on faceoffs or Grabner chipping in key goals or the Coyotes out hitting the Preds and blocking more shots or Tocchet. Nope. It's Kuemper + Luck. Because that's the narrative spun all year so just keep running with it. The author also admitted to not watching all the games, but he's still the authority. Yawn.

Playoffs are random. Any team can win. Better team rarely wins. Coyotes were lucky. If not for top 5 all time goalie Kuemper, Preds sweep this series.

The Leafs are possibly the worst constructed team I’ve seen in 20 years. I say this because they have so much talent, but their GM is just a train wreck. Any GM with half a hockey brain would have that team in at least the Conference Finals by now. They haven’t won a damn series in 16 years man!!! Lol and they were like 3 minutes away from losing a “play in” series, which by the way still isn’t over. It’s mind boggling.

I think we’ll soon see the end of this analytical young GM dog poop very soon. They are running at an incredible 0% success rate right now. Hell, the best move Chayka made was to fire himself lol

IMO, if the Leafs kept Hunter they would be a real threat to win the cup this year. Possibly the favourite. Now it’s either lose to Columbus or get spanked by Boston/Washington.

He sure does. I wonder how that works if the "best team in the salary cap era" cant even get in the playoffs let alone win anything in them.

Does he change his tune or does he run excuses?

Jimmy has his flawed narratives. He's a biased Leafs Pom Pom waver and idolizes Dubas. When the Leafs win it's "they're the best team they should win." When they lose it's "They were unlucky. The refs screwed them. The goalie stole the game."

who would have thought that on a day when Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid were eliminated, that Brad Richardson and Phil Kessel would punch their playoff ticket?

Amazing that the Coyotes played in the WCF in 2012, but according to their supreme blogger they have not seen the playoffs since 2011?! Day in and day out you prove to be an embarrassment.

Every team uses analytics as a part of their team building and evaluation process. However, the bottom line is that there is absolutely no evidence that any of the analytical whiz kids have any advantage whatsoever over the "old guard" traditional NHL GM's that Tanner so despises. If anything, it's the opposite.

"but the .933 save percentage of Darcy"

.933 puts him tied for 13th with Vasilevsky. Behind Korpisalo. Behind Anderson. Behind Carey Price and his .947 Hell, the Colorado Avalanche team save percentage is .983

So you even watch and/or follow the NHL, or do you just pick a random stat and act like you know something?

Tanner's logic is that if the team wins it is all goalie work However he has never understood that the Kuempers of the NHL , Never get their elite stats without a structured game plan....Thats right Tanner- Kuemper goes from elite to mediocre without the coaching that gets him those elite #'s

Give up. I've tried very hard to explain how coaching and systems influences goalie stats. Coyotes generally collapse down low, give up perimeter shots, clear rebounds, block shots, have defensively responsible forwards on every line. So goalies look good. Put Kuemper on the Leafs and his stats would suffer. Put Freddie Anderson on the Coyotes and people would be talking Vezina. But Tanner doesn't get it. He cuts up Tocchet for not playing Hayton on a "skill line" with Kessel and Keller and Hall. They might score a few more goals but Kuemper would suddenly let in more too. Again, such a poor understanding of the sport.
