His contract doesn’t slide in Ontario.

It will because he'll still be 19 years old by Dec. 31 of this year and the first year of the contract will only be burned next season if he plays min. 10 NHL games.

Not ready physically.

We already have a log jam forming at center and not having him play meaningful minutes does nothing for his development.

I would have liked him to play another year in Wisconsin to be honest. Don’t think he’s NHL ready and I’m not a fan of a top 5 pick playing in the AHL. Thought he was going to play one more year in Wisconsin then possibly get into a few NHL games at the end of the season to get a feel. But it sounds like he’ll be in Ontario and possibly a couple games with LA.

Agree with you that Turcotte might see a few NHL games so he gets a taste, but he needs time at the pro level to develop. AHL is just fine for him next year.

This sentence was interesting:

The Kings will already have a few prospects to find room for in the lineup, likely including Gabriel Vilardi and now whoever is taken with that second-overall pick.

Maybe I'm reading the sentence wrong, but do you expect Byfield or Stutzle to enter the line-up next year? I think Byfield will stay in the OHL one more year. Stutzle, like Turcotte, might get a sniff but I doubt the club will rush him considering he's coming from the big ice in Europe.

Stutzle is ineligible to play in the NHL next season. He'll be under contract with Alder Mannheim of the DEL, and players under European contracts won't be allowed to participate in the 2020-21 season.

Turcotte depends on whether the AHL starts on time. Apparently they're in talks to start in December, but it's quite possible that they don't considering they're heavily dependent on ticket sales to cover operating expenses. Not all of the teams are owned by NHL franchises, and many of them won't be able to afford to put on games if fans aren't allowed in the building.

If the AHL starts at the same time as the NHL, then I think Turcotte starts the season in Ontario. He might get his 9-game look after the trade deadline next year, but I don't think they'll burn a year of his ELC during a year that no one expects them to make the playoffs.

The only players that I think might get more than a handful of games this year that weren't on this year's end-of-season roster are Grundstrom, Clague, JAD, and Kupari. Everyone else will spend the season in Ontario or their junior/European clubs.

No need to rush him along and ruin his confidence. Let's see how his camp goes. Most likely he will start in the AHL. If he lights the world on fire then you consider bringing him up. Would be great if we don't burn a year of ELC next year and keep his first three years for years we would be more competitive.

Ok Kings fans... would you include one of Villardi/Turcotte in a trade up from 2 for #1 pick? Maybe as part of a bigger deal?

No. Neither Vilardi nor Turcotte are for sale at this point.

Much like Ottawa shouldn't trade the #3 & #5 for the #1 overall pick. The Kings shouldn't trade the #2 and a #5 (Vilardi was ranked in the top 5 in pre-draft prospect rankings before falling to #11) for the #1 overall.

No. Not even close. Best case would be #2 and one on the 2nds (not our 2nd though). Hopefully we will take on a bad contract and get another 1st like we should have done with the Marleau contract.
