This isn't on Dubois. It is on the refs, and therefore the league, for the ridiculous way penalty calls are made. On the other side of the ledger, Kyle Clifford definitely deserved a penalty for the hit he threw early in the game.

A penalty decision should be easy. Was there an infraction? Yes? then call a penalty.

Unfortunately the NHL's system of officiating brings into play a whole host of other factors including the score, the time of the game, how many calls have been made against each team, player's reputation, player's value to the team, Team's reputation, playoffs or non-playoffs, how much the coach argued earlier and probably a few more things that should not be considered.

The whole thing is ridiculous, but this isn't on Dubois.

I agree its not on the players. earlier in the game, torts and dubois got into it a bit...have to think he was told to play better? tougher? dirtier?

anyways, it worked...the jackets get rewarded by taking out the best defensive D the Leafs have.

has anyone taken a cross check to the back before? how much padding do the players have in that spot? have to think it adds up over seasons/careers.

Refereeing has always been and always will be subjective. I can remember watching playoff games knowing how the game would be called just by who was the ref. Kerry Fraser? One team will always get a PP late in the third period in a tie game.

Paul Stewart? Let everything go for both teams unless a player is killed. Rob Schick? Call everything in the book. Literally. Dunkin' Donut Dan O'Halloran hated the Red Wings because he was once shot in Detroit. So I knew he'd always screw them over which he certainly did.

It's the moronic statements you make such as "50/50 he never plays hockey again" or "best case scenario out 2-3 months" that people take exception with.

I find they let cross checking go all the time.

Watch the net front on a power play. The defenseman (sometimes even goalie) are just cross checking the hell out of the forward in front of the net.

I said timelines on him to get back would be estimated 6months, best case scenario 2-3 months and worst case he's finished his hockey career.

standard recovery time for a whiplash (would be better than cervical vertebra injury for sure) is already 12 weeks. take away a few weeks from that, and it's still very optimistic to say 2 months.. it's really a very normal estimation of when muzzin could be healthy (and really in reply to the people saying '4 days out because of covid measures').

Yes max that's called first aid, whenever there is the slightest potential for a neck/back injury you ensure you don't further hurt the individual treating them.

That's how you deal with anyone who has that potential ever, from a potential paraplegic to someone with a bruise. It's the same protocol.

I highly doubt that Columbus doesnt have a much stronger and aggressive game next time out.
