Can someone explain to me why kneeling is so disrespectful? In the Kong’s and queens, didn’t you kneel before them? Don’t Men kneel to ask a woman to marry them?
Seriously, who decided kneeling was disrespectful when playing the U.S. national anthem? |

Love the insight into the club’s history, good stuff, thanks Bill. I didn’t know about the chosen color either. But I love it! |

I never saw it as disrespectful, personally. The idea (as I understand it) is that you are supposed to stand (even in grade school) as a sign of respect for the flag/country. So deliberately NOT standing is seen by some as disrespectful. I don't necessarily agree, but that's the rationale I believe is the issue.
As for the people who say it's disrespectful to the troops, I've asked 2 former Marines their views on it. They said that, while they don't necessarily agree with it (this was when Kaepernick first did it), they support their right to do it, which is part of why they fought for this country.
I really liked what Reaves said, that it wasn't about politics, it was about basic human rights. I think that putting it in those terms drives the point home much better than anyone who is doing things to make a political statement. |

Very well stated. As a whole, we need to return to the civility of "I may not agree with your opinion, but I will defend your right to express it". I am ex-Soviet, I had an amazing sense of freedom when I had arrived. I would urge everyone not to take it for granted. |

It’s not.
Changing a tradition for a valid reason is part of history. Not being legalistic about the reasonable expression of freedom or a protest of injustice is an example of free speech.

Agreed on all counts. I serve in the Canadian Armed forces and while I don't agree with not standing for our National Anthems, I agree with everyone's right to do so. |

Personally, I choose to stand when attending an event that involves the national anthem and the American flag. My dad served and I know countless others who have.
I am not against anyone kneeling. I understand why it's done and the message that's intended when kneeling.
I just wish people would understand that folks that kneel and folks that stand can be on the same side and support each other. Seems like a lot of folks forget that.

I’d think it’s contingent on if the rangers series ends tonight. |

Obviously you didn’t serve in the military. It is there right to do so but I consider it ignorant to all who sacrificed. |

“Let’s not talk about anything political”
See that’s the issue. This is for HUMAN RIGHTS. It’s not politics. Lehner said it best last night along with Reeves. People can’t seem to grasp this was never, ever about politics. Idc who you vote for, at the end of the day Humans deserve equality and the same rights. Blame the media for making this always about politics. That’s all Ill say.

Didn’t realize NAK shifts were that limited. But agree I liked his game against Boston. Thought raff started slow but then the second period came on. Alright Joel. Playoff hockey sir.
Anyone else catch when brad s stick went high. He turned but didn’t seem to want anything to do with the kid. |

I wonder if the refs saw that. Yea, it wasn't egregious and it was just held there but what if a player suddenly turns? Could easily get under a visor and do some damage. Regardless of force, any intentional raising of the stick towards a players head should be penalized.

Well said.
If a political entity: person/legislature/party or even a tradition (like Confederate statues) is incompetent/ignorant/insensitive, a reasoned, fact-based pointing out of these issues should not be seen as political baiting.
I don't have time right now, but later today/tomorrow I will be posting a short summary of some recent developments in the Covid 19 front, just in case its useful to anyone. |
