Only way I see that happening is if they trade him or they absolutely cannot reach a deal because he's asking for too much, in which case they would at least make a qualifying offer...
- jugkope

asking too much?!?

If his agent says ''look at his use in the last 3 years yaddi-yadda 20M/4 years'' and MB says ''blah blah 3rd pairing 6M/5 years'' and neither budges.

in other news, heard Martin Mcguire Yesterday saying he would not be surprised if Habs don't even sign Mete for next year.
I find that a bit hard to believe tbh, but not impossible

- fidopro

did he explain the logic behind it, i.e. who's gonna play on D? (because there are so many options it's hard to tell)

he's a #7. I highly doubt MB gives him 5 years

It's what he gave to Alzner....you know he likes his depth.

And Mete is fine as a #4 or 5

oh! on a team missing the playoffs sure.
on a winning team he's a #7.

Chiarot is in front of him, so is Kulak. and we can expect Romanov will pass him the minute he jumps on the ice.

If Yannick Weber went to the Cup finals as a #5-6 there is no justification to put Mete as a #7 on a ''winning'' team.

pretty sure Mete has enough skill to hang around in the NHL, obviously not in your top 4 if you want a winning team..

That Nashville team was basically what Montreal has been trying to achieve for over a decade....60 points defensively responsible forwards, decent defensive core, strong goalie. Looks legitimate to say, if they made it that far with Y. Weber as their #5 or 6, then it's possible to win with Mete as your 5

Wow! Then I guess that’s buh-bye Mete. Jesus.

He’s really not that good. First pass sure....other than that....uhhhh

EDIT: And some speed

Oh, for sure not, but it's what MB has been trying to do, hence the Alzner and Chariot signings...Obviously, one was a major failure. Still, since that seems to be his plan (insofar as we think MB is planning anything and not trading around like an headless poulet), it does show that it's not detrimental to have Mete at 5.
Edit: And now sleep.

doesn't bring offense, doesn't hit, obviously doesn"t fight, not big enough to play againts guys like Malkin... I mean, I like the kid, good little player, but simply not good enough.

Habs have probably the worst group of LDs in the league. and yet he is behind Chiarot Kulak and Romanov. if that's good enough to be a #4... I'm missing sometihng
