Yea, and before that BLM, a Marxist organization and it’s false narrative that there’s systematic racism in America reared it’s ugly head! Shame! |

Ennis- McDavid- Archibald
Nuge- Drai- Yamamoto
Neal- Khaira- Chiasson
Nygard- Sheahan- Kassian
Kassian can earn his way back onto the 1st line if he gives a goddam effort and plays like the sparkplug he's supposed to be. AA only gets scratched because Sheahan can't defend alone while Kassian is on his line. |

Swap Sheahan for Haas. Spot on after that. |

One might reasonably infer. |

Swap Sheahan for Haas. Other than that, looks great to me. - Wildschwein
Nah, Sheahan didn't do anything that struck me as particularly bad. He was winning a fair share of faceoffs on a night where it felt like we lost all the important ones. I probably prefer Haas' style of play, we need to give the PK a chance to rebound. |

Sheahan didn’t do anything to get booted last night, no. Yet I feel Haas is the better player. Thus I wish to swap them. |

Probably a better fit against the Hawks, yeah. |

Then I ask that you not raise political topics within a thread for discussing hockey. Obviously I can't stop you or others from doing so, but I'll request it nonetheless. |

No worries, and I’ll respect your wishes. It’s the fact that the NHL was my last hope for enjoying sports without the BS of life thrown in my face. Be safe.. |

Appreciate it! You too While I don't typically advocate for hiding or shying away from such discussions, I get my fill of it in other mediums and would sooner keep this one free of it. I'd like to try to focus on the atrocious showing the Oilers just had since we finally have hockey back |

I find it hilarious that you think the Oilers are way above the Hawks. They have proven Stanley Cup winners on the roster and the most likely rookie of the year winner.
This is not as mismatched as you make it seem. |

You made a good point, but kinda spoiled it with the ROY comment.
The fact that, after all these years of top picks, the Oilers still surround their two stars with absolute crap is shocking.
Chicago is the deeper team, and should win this series |

I’ll say it again
2/3 of the 12 best forwards playing in this series are Blackhawks.
The Hawks have Toews, Kane, and Saad all playing as well as they ever have...AND they have DeBrincat, Strome, Nylander, Dach, and Kubalik all breaking out/reaching that next gear at once. Even their 4th line is a very good shutdown line(Highmore-Kampf-Carpenter) as we saw in game 1. The Oilers can’t match that depth of forward firepower,
doesn’t matter how well McDrai plays. This is why the Hawks are vastly superior 5v5.
On top of that the Hawks actually have a reliable goalie in Crawford....AND their blue line is infinitely better with Boqvist and Koekkoek replacing Gus and Seabrook. Not to mention the return of de Haan. Chicago’s blue line is much better than most think.
Game 1 had much more to do with the Hawks and what they do well than what the Oilers didn’t do.
Series not over though. EDM can win this if the Hawks keep committing dumb penalties. The less time at 5v5 for the Oilers the better they’ll be. Oilers can also get a boost from the goalie change. We’ll see what happens. Way too early to say it’s over, but the fact remains this is NOT an upset if the Hawks indeed end up winning. They are simply the better team top to bottom. |

Yes, because the Oilers not covering their man or protecting the front of the net like they did most of the year isn't the biggest factor. The Hawks were full value for that win, sure, but let's not pretend that 3 of those 1st period goals weren't abhorrent coverage/bad positioning by our defenders. |

It goes well beyond just the pucks that went in the net early in the game. The bottom line is the entirety of the game 5v5 the Hawks generated chances at will, many that didn’t even result in goals. This has much more to do with the Hawks superior talent at forward than the Oilers just not showing up/being out of place/not covering their man. You make it sound like EDM was some defensive juggernaut during the regular season. They really aren’t that good defensively. Better than years past, but still very leaky and easy to exploit if they’re playing a team that is as deep and skilled as the Hawks are up front. |
