take it down a notch. and driving people away? people remember the misery you created so tread lightly as you have been.

pointing at the goalie when the team didn't look or play well is weaksauce. if the team played well enough to win, sure, i'd agree with your reasoning. however, given that marky played no better nor worse than the skaters in front of him, i'm willing to give him some leeway.... just like i'm giving leeway to everyone else.

Excuse me... I created misery?!? LOL when and like how. I'm new to the scene of old grudges here but I have observed like many what goes on. I've only been here to post about hockey and don't set agendas to attack posters which is a specialty that has been pointed out several times by other posters. It's why good Canuck hockey smart posters like DCT and Nucker just don't bother with the poop show.

As far as blame sure there is plenty to go around with the Canucks. They got a dose of hard checking playoff hockey and that a next level of intensity of execution is needed. Though it was said, and I agree, that the first games will favor defensive teams. As its harder to be sharp on offence at the extra level after layoff. Its why this series will be hard to call because we don't know if the Canuck players and coaches will make the adjustments in time to overcome. NEXT GAME IS HUGE.

Bullsh*t! The team lost. The coaching staff lost. It was not on the shoulders of one player. Like the rest of the team, Markstrom could have been better.
- Marwood

100% correct.

Very nice presentation BTW...

What?

You absolutely as a coach can find ways to motivate your players.

- golfingsince

After watching the Leafs play the last couple of years, I believe this is not true.

If the team simply doesn't give a poop and isn't willing to put in the work, the coach can't do anything about it. I am *guessing* the Canucks game looked like the Leafs game last night, where one team was playing playoff hockey and the other team was looking forward to the NBA2K tournament on PS4 after the game.

I like what Ferland brought last night. Our dominant players did not dominate. They looked overwhelmed and it's not because the Wild looked great.

It was more like nobody but Ferland was willing to pay the price. I mean, first shift the kid was betting his health he could play his game. Nobody followed that intensity.

i was shocked for a second when i saw ferland drop the mitts... but then i wasn't when i remembered the type of player he is. "willing to pay the price," is an understatement and the team didn't seem to get fired up by it. that doesn't sit well with me.

I think they're waiting for you in the Hurricanes thread. Brind'Amour is a good Coach. Loved him as a player as well.
- Load Management

I played against Brind'amour...very very tough and in shape all the time lol

My shot was better tho...

Still waiting for Bo to drive that 'C' home and I was a pretty big advocate for his captaincy...

i hear ya. he has to play with more emotion.

...but i don't think the letter on a jersey should make a difference. everyone should be playing with more emotion. a team should have a mix of rah rah and cool and calculated. there's been too much of the latter and not enough of the former for a long time. jtm/ferland shouldn't have to be the only ones who fire up the team and it doesn't take a letter on the jersey to do it.

Yup, and as you said it's pretty telling of this team to not react whatsoever after Ferland offered himself to the gods of hockey. That has been a constant criticism of this team, they are fluffy meringues.

What the hell is going on? You guys are getting along. I’m so confused right now.

Hmmmmm... what changed lately to create such good will in here? Something’s different, just can’t put my finger on it.

Yeah he sure put it on the line to show he's back as himself with the fight. Though I'm not sure he made any hockey plays that were a difference maker. I didn't see him get any big hits or shots or power to the net. Maybe he needs more players to match his intensity to help the hockey side. Though the execution by all was off. Adjustments are needed for lines as well.

I don’t get this one bit. Leaders need to lead, we need way more emotion out of Bo in particular BECAUSE of the letter. Makes a huge difference to everyone in that dressing room, I guarantee you that.

i think this is a very simplified take. i don't think that it makes a "huge difference."

i think it makes a difference that there isn't enough passion on the team. bo has to play with more but if he was every bit the emotional leader you want him to be, it wouldn't be enough for this team. so my point being, the letter doesn't matter, playoff hockey needs more emotion from every player.

If anyone remembers what I’ve posted, they’ll know how bad my predictions are.

Got to start doing the opposite. As Seinfeld said “If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right.”
