LMAO... so the Pens, OIlers and Leafs are toast... come on that's such BS. Obvious the defensive minded teams had an edge in game 1 where its harder to get offensive passing and shot timing to the level needed to overcome tight checking.

The Canucks lost because Marky let in 2 soft ones and didn't get on the PP early to balance out scoring. Next game they just have to bull their way to the net and draw penalties if need be with speed. Inserting JV will help with that too.

Edit. Oil are toast they got schooled by a real playoff team.

Yeah! Otherwise, they would have killed Minny 0 - 0 !!!!

What?

You absolutely as a coach can find ways to motivate your players.

Its not about motivation at that level they have it. Its about execution and the intensity of getting it done. That's on the players doing what they were coached to do. The coaching strategy though was off and line up selection not good enough.
- NuckUp

I disagree.

You see pro athletes go through the motions all the time, including on the big stage.

Are you really going to tell us that JV motivates himself?

He's a pretty good playoff coach when he has his style of player.

You said the reason they lost were soft goals and no PP's early on.

I think most of us saw a team that just didn't bring enough.

- golfingsince

Its not a reason as in cause but result as in fact of circumstance. I also said execution which was the reason on not responding to mistakes or overcoming the defensive smothering 5v5. If the Canucks could have drawn more PP driving to the net then that would have made a difference as well on the intensity factor.

I think it was bloated that said a week or so ago the Canucks needed to find ways to score or they'd be in trouble.
- golfingsince
I hate when that guy's right, but yes he did. Soft and to the outside isn't going to get it done.

It doesn't matter. Basically you've come around since your original statement and accepted it's on the entire team and coaching staff like the rest of us.

I'm actually surprised we didn't see more line juggling last night. Just to mess with some of the match-ups.

Cutting a sentence in half to support a narrative by the Miserywood sure is par for the course here. No wonder posters leave or barely post you guys swarm more to protect the King of Myth then any other objective of discourse. But carry on throwing more fire to the cause.

Fact Marky got scored on goals he said he should have had. Fact the Canucks didn't generate early PP to respond and score on the smothering defensive checking Wild. Plus their goalie didn't make mistakes when tested. Though like we all saw and was admitted they need to get more traffic and shots off on him.

that is also very true.

I’ve had to do some serious googling before posting. My brain’s been on sabbatical.

Yeah that's on coaching. Green had the wrong combos and line up selection for this Wild team.

no doubt! but you could go through the roster with each and every player and say the same thing.

weak and lackadaisical play from everyone. i think it's just singling out the goalie seems like a bit of scapegoating. no one's arguing that marky played well or how the team needs him to but he wasn't the reason that the team lost.

According to Booner there are other sites where your friends and other assorted victims are active. Maybe pop by and check them out, you might find a forum where every one agrees with you.
No one was calling you names so don't start a pity parade.

Enough with this BS.

You made a statement that didn't jive with many if not all of us, then followed it up with 2 pages of posts trying to defend it. Ironically, you pretty much mentioned the entire team and staff were at fault.

take it down a notch. and driving people away? people remember the misery you created so tread lightly as you have been.

pointing at the goalie when the team didn't look or play well is weaksauce. if the team played well enough to win, sure, i'd agree with your reasoning. however, given that marky played no better nor worse than the skaters in front of him, i'm willing to give him some leeway.... just like i'm giving leeway to everyone else.

No you left out that the original post had these elements as well but for different points to what what you are saying. I blame the coaching staff on strategy and line up selection you blame them for not motivating the players.

The players didn't execute and made mistakes that is on them. They will look at video and make adjustments. Marky has to be sharp from the get go on point shots on the PK its been a weakness of his for some time. He's played great on reactionary saves and credit to his athleticism.

I like what Ferland brought last night. Our dominant players did not dominate. They looked overwhelmed and it's not because the Wild looked great.

It was more like nobody but Ferland was willing to pay the price. I mean, first shift the kid was betting his health he could play his game. Nobody followed that intensity.

My bad. Clearly misunderstood your original post bolded. To me it appeared you blamed it on goaltending and a lack of PP's.

Hate to say it, but this young hurricane team is turning my crank. Is Rod Brind'Amour a good coach or is it an optical illusion? That Aho kid is special.

I think they're waiting for you in the Hurricanes thread. Brind'Amour is a good Coach. Loved him as a player as well.
