It was something i looked forward to almost every day and i'm happy that i'll be able to finally give back to you for all the years of free content. The NHL ruled on our conditional pick from the Hurricanes in the Vatanen deal. To sum it up as best as i can, if Vatanen plays in 70% of the Hurricanes games(play-in round does NOT count) then we get a 3rd this year. If Vatanen plays in less than 70% of their games, then it depends on if he plays atleast 2 games against NYR. If yes, and CAR wins the series we get a 4th this year. If yes, and NYR wins the series the Canes choose if we get their 4th this year or next year. If Vatanen doesn't play twice against NYR then we get no pick

Don’t take it personally. Bruce’s favorite hobby is poking every other fan base with a stick. It’s what he does. Hell, he’ll even poke our own fans if he feels like it.

I think this has been mentioned but the NHL finalized the conditions on the Sami Vats trade. See this:

This seems very favorable to New Jersey. Basically if Vats plays in two game in the play-in round we get a 4th. If Carolina wins and goes into the playoffs that can upgrade to a 3rd.

So while obviously a 3rd is preferable there isn't a whole lot of difference between the probability of getting someone who turns into an NHL player. The main thing here is we are likely to something.
