Good stuff as always, Jan. Thanks!!
So, do your observances for the Sabbath prevent you from even watching the game at noon tomorrow, or do you watch and then simply wait to post about it?

Prevents me from watching it. I am off the grid from sunset tonight until it gets dark tomorrow. Basically from about 8pm tonight to 9pm tomorrow. I will catch up and watch after the Sabbath ends.

At least you can't have the game results ruined by your Smartphone 👍.

I've yet to record a game and watch it without knowing the result beforehand

I am 75% thinking its going to be a buyout, but I would rather not do that

I dont think anyone would want his cap hit, so he has to be bought out.

How about no more (frank)ing buyouts lingering on the cap for years?

If they bought him out, the savings would only be $3 million this year, meaning a $5.5 million cap figure remains, but a $1.5 million cap hit on the books the following season.

Buying out Hank isn't a good look. I get its a business but still. Never mind the fact that we don't need anymore dead cap. The Rangers aren't a cup team yet. No reason for more dead cap, just let it play out

I don't think it's as bad of a look as leaving him in limbo next season.

What if Henrik waives his NTC and NY retains 1/2 his salary, would he be able to be traded?? I realize there should be a bunch of goalies available next season. Would NY have to additionally embarrass the King by having to add a sweetener???

That puts the ball in his court though. He can ask for a trade, or retire.

Asking for a trade isn't the same as getting one. There aren't many teams that are going to be able to take on even 50% of his hit with the cap staying flat next season.

Yes, that would save $4.25 million off the cap. In addition, his base salary this year is only $4.5 million while the cap hit is $8.5, so a team looking to get to the floor and not wanting the full cap hit might be interested.

Honestly, what I would hope would happen, is they offer him a job as Allaire's understudy. Allaire is getting up there in age.

That would be perfect and I see that happening the day after he retires. However, I don't think he can take a job with the Rangers if he retires before his contract is up.
