If anyone actually watched the Oliers-Flames game, the conclusion was that McDavid's line was totally out of synch. He scored a PP goal on a rebound. Then in the dying minutes of the game he scored a solo effort on a broken play. Tippett moved RNH to his line but they didn't seem to click. It was also clear that McDavid was just coasting around most of the night. So maybe the boxscore suggests that "McDavid was McDavid", but if you actually watched the game that was not the case. Draisitl was mostly invisible. Wouldn't be shocked if Tippett returns RNH back to Draisitl's wing. Secondary pressure was also invisible. Athanasiou looked lost. James Neal looked slow. Not sure your assessment makes any sense. |

I don't understand how Carey Price is a big game player? Since when. |

Habs/Leafs game was a joke. Two very easy short handed goals by TO. if the Habs were a horse..... Not only that, Muzzin pounds the smallest guy on the ice and not one single Habs player as much as glares at him. Pathetic. Giveaways all over the place. Andersen played well but just about everything hit him in the crest. Montreal has zero in the sniper dept. Price still competes but he doesn’t have much company. I will be stunned if Habs win a game. Toronto needs to cut the stupid, lazy penalties. Lots of firepower but I think they’re going to need every bit of it. |

Pay attention. A few weeks ago Ek reported that THREE solid sources have confirmed that Seattle would love to build around Carey Price, who Ek described as a "top shelf keeper". Basically the same blueprint as Vegas did with Fleury. Ek mentioned Montreal is OPEN to the idea.
My story...Price is not a top shelf keeper. He's 33, in decline for several years, and his contract takes him until age 39 at a ridiculous $10.5M. Watching the games helps. And the fact that Montreal would be OPEN to the idea makes me suspect this is a made up story. Montreal would not be OPEN. Instead they would be jumping up and down at the idea of escaping this contract. Where do we sign? How we do get rid of this guy? |

"is Crosby healthy and ready?"
Sidney Crosby at 10% is better than 95% of NHL players anyway |

Someone was saying a few days ago that Toronto and Edmonton will have an advantage because of familiarity with arena/boards etc.
But at least as far as the latter goes, they are used to having great ice for half their games. Not only will they now be playing in summer, but there will now be 3 games a day. If they play the 2nd or 3rd game, they may actually suffer because they are accustomed to the ice being much better than it will be. |

Ice won't be as bad as you think. No fans. No doors opening and closing. Keeps the temperature and more importantly the humidity low. Also, neither rink will be used for practices or pre-game skates. So it's just games. At least for the initial rounds. The Oilers facility actually has a practice rink attached to the same building. I've skated on that ice and it's probably better quality than most NHL sheets. There are two other facilities within 10 minutes that are home to local university/college teams that will be used as practice facilities. |

Interesting.
Yesterday, in the Flyers-Pens game, local commentators were talking about the ice deteriorating in the 3rd period. This was Toronto, not Edmonton, but it was also the first game, and no fans and all that. |

Would be more interested in the players views than local commentators who likely made a pre-game note to watch for bad bounces and then bring this up in the broadcast since playing hockey in July is probably bad for ice. For me, the outside temperature isn't a big deal. But if game 1 goes into double-overtime and game 2 goes into overtime, then game 3 could get ugly. That's what I'd watch for. |

How good do you think the oilers would be if they had a goalie combo of Kosovo and leaner?

When I watched the Leafs game last night, I only had 2 questions:
1) Am I watching Cody Ceci or Torey Krug right now? They are almost twins.
2) When the rumour chart finally launches will every single team be in on Cody Ceci, causing the percentages to add up to way more than 100%? |

What are you blabbing about? So according to you McD was coasting all game, Drai was invisible and secondary pressure was non existent. Yet we still pop in 4 goals and only allow a goalie interference goal for the 4-1 win. Damn, imagine how we will look when McD and Drai show up hey? |

Oilers didn't look that great. McDavid scored a PP goal. It was a 2-1 game until the dying minutes. Then they got a flukey goal from their 13th forward after a strange bounce. Followed by a solo effort by McDavid in the dying seconds. So 2-1 quickly became 4-1. There were several rushes when McDavid clearly let up rather than risk injury. I think the Oilers will look much better on Saturday. Did you watch the game? |
