Yes, if you ignore context just to make your own point, I guess I can see how that looks bad.

But an infinitely smarter way to look at this would be to say that Keller is 21 years old and locked up for his entire prime. If he becomes a star, that deal is going to look really cheap.

Sure, there is some risk because he didn't come close to earning that money this year. Then again, he was only paid 900 K this year and provided excellent value for that.

How far does Keller really have to go to be worth $8 million? He was worth 1.2 wins as a rookie, and .07 this year. (which is still better than 47% of the NHL).

The cap not going up is going to hurt the value of this deal, but it is a perfectly reasonable contract from a team's perspective. The risk is small compared to the potential reward.

Kevin Hayes is 28 signed for roughly the same, through age 36, and this year he had negative value. Actually hurt his team.

Hayes is typical of the kind of contracts most NHL teams have and sign. In comparison to these types of deals, all the Coyotes signings look great due to the much lower risk and higher potential reward.

Honest question:

Why do people like you attack people or find reasons to ignore them if you don't like what they say?

Hayes compares poorly to other players on other teams who play the same role as he does. His 5v5 offense is poor, his 5v5 defense is so-so, and his only real contributions are on the PP where you don't need to pay a player 8 million to get them.

The fact is, he plays a type of game that we have always been told makes a big impact, and so you believe that anyone who says differently must be an idiot, despite it turning out that when you measure things instead of guessing, players like Hayes just aren't that helpful.

wrong on all acounts
Next time, type something out, then write the exact opposite. You will then finally be correct

James,

I respect your opinion but I think your narrative on the Blues is wrong.

Binnington had an abnormally high regular season save percentage, but his playoff save percentage was .914.

Both Rask and Bishop outplayed him during their respective series. Jones of course did not, and Hellebuyck was about equal I'd say.

Maybe it shouldn't bother me as a Blues fan, but people attributing luck to their win (or calling it a fluke), after waiting my entire life for a cup is a bit like rubbing salt in a wound.

They overcame a great deal to win that cup (including that horrific hand pass goal in the Shark series), and we're still riding on a high here in STL.

St. Louis absolutely won because of depth. Each of the four lines was the driver in one of the series.

Rask was robbed for the Conn Smythe. The Blues won in spite of Binnington, he got shelled a lot, the games he was good in he was really good, but he was inconsistent at best in the playoffs. His goals saved above average was -1.96 and Rask's was 13.04. To an outsider they won because they didn't beat themselves; they played mostly mistake free hockey. Not super exciting, but not Devils trap hockey either.

Agreed. Binnington had some awful games. His best attribute seems to be his ability to bounce back. I didn't think game seven in Boston was going to go that way at all.

O'Reilly was exceptional in the finals series but he played a much lesser role in the previous three rounds. Part of that was because he broke his rib in the first round and it really affected him, particularly in faceoffs and with his offensive game.

But Rask was a stud throughout the entire playoffs and deserved the Conn Smythe.

I agree that Rask was probably most deserving. That said, I don't think the Conn Smythe should ever go to a member of the losing team. The Flyers have won 2 out of 5 Conn Smythes as the losers of the SCF, and you can tell that they couldn't really care less about winning it. And just looked how excited JS Giguere was when he won it back in 2003:

And I'll say this as a Leafs fan:

It's franking weird that the trophy is a Maple Leaf positioned behind Maple Leaf Gardens.

Can you imagine the MVP of the World Series being given the Fenway Park Trophy?

I might just be a normal guy who doesn't go on the internet except when I get paid for it, so maybe this isn't weird to anyone else, but in my opinion anonymously calling a person names and insulting their work makes you an immature loser. The use of the phrase "toddler" by you, to me, is hilariously ironic.

I agree with Tanner, "toddler" wasn't right. My toddler is able to grasp concepts much more easily and can actually make an argument for things without resorting to insulting me.

"Infantile" was probably the better term to use here.

After four years of having Trump supporters say that everything they disagree with is fake news, and that everyone who doesn't buy into their easily discredited propaganda is brainwashed, how can you blame people for giving up and just insulting and making fun of you?

After about the 10 000th time I presented evidence only to have it completely ignored by people who will not change their minds when shown new information and who exhibit every single tendency of cult behavior, I realized it was useless to argue.

The Trump Administration spent four months politicizing a virus and spreading incorrect, dangerous, stupid rhetoric that directly lead to over 100 000 preventable deaths, and that is indisputable. It is a fact agreed upon by literally every single person in the entire world who doesn't have a history of believing the guy who has literally been caught lying every single day.

So you'll have to excuse me if I am an ***hole to these people. They refuse to acknowledge basic information and accuse anyone who tries to penetrate their bubble of insanity of everything they are guilty of.

Trump will go down as one of the worst leaders in world history, his presidency is the worst of all time, and he will be lucky to avoid a trial at the Hague for crimes against humanity.

You can deny it all you want, but the thing is, as a Trump supporter you have no credibility on literally anything. And whatever you say to this, just know that all educated, informed people agree with me, and the idea that we are all brainwashed is just a little too convenient to be plausible.

This is the kind of thing so idiotic its impossible to believe you are being serious.

The initial model said if no one changed their behavior at all, 2 million would die. Those who changed their behavior did so in spite of Trump. Richest country in the world, yet the worst response. Its a (frank)ing disgrace.

Did the "peaceful protests" contribute to a surge in cases? Or was it mostly those evil Trump supporters that went to the beach and walked on the dry sand instead of the wet sand as the Democrats instructed?
