Raymond will need to play 1 more year overseas due to contracts. For some reason I dont believe PD will choose Lucas raymond as he has his eyes set in the 3 & 5 picks playing right away. I could be wrong.

PD and Melnyk have stated the arent going to really sign much UFAs. I think there are better players via trade. But if sens decide ufas.

Torey Krug potential signing?

Colin Miller or brendan montour via trade

Balcers signing me likey!

Management makes it so incredibly hard to like this team tbh.

Brady has advisors (connected family & friends, high powered agents) picking his spots and promoting him every time he passes gas while Mark seems to do good things just because he can.

What am I missing?

Assume they give it to Tkachuk to curry favour and help get his next contract AAV down with token nominations. Can't see that working.

I'm old enough to remember Tkachuk stealing the game puck after losing in OT from a rookie goalie's first win...a rookie goalie who had previously been a teammate of Tkachuk's, just to then make up pure BS reasons why he stole the puck. Tkachuk is a great player but a garbage human being

Good chance that Tkachuk getting the nod over Borowiecki may have something to do with the anticipated roster make up for next season. I hope the Sens resign Borowiecki.

But the new troops are coming and maybe Borowiecki does not get a new contract. Sens have a whole bunch of young guys to place. If there is no AHL, junior or NCAA hockey...many of the marginal players will get pushed off the roster in order to provide ice and practice time for the young guys.

This doesn't surprise me in the slightest tbh.

Disappoint? Absolutely .. and I'm getting sick of the "hockey players are different" mantra. People are people and he grew up rich and (it seems) quite entitled.

What about Ottawa signing one or more of the big UFA's to a one year contract for big money that not many other teams can or would do, then trading them as a rental at the deadline. Hall, or Krug for example. Give Hall $12M for a year (no one else would do that) trade him for a 1st and a good prospect or two at the TDL, and even retain some salary if needed. Hall may be interested based on the money, and he could also have a say in where he goes when the season is more than half over and he knows who are the contenders. That and taking picks for other teams salary dumps should be what Ottawa does again this year, to continue to build draft capital. Money/your owner is the only reason this is not a realistic option.

I like your idea and creativity; but having a owner like Melnyk is a problem

The Sens did this with Tyler Ennis but I guess it's harder to do with a big name - as they have to be down with the plan. I think a guy like Hossa did it because he legit thought he had a chance to win the cup with Det

If the Senators come out of the top-2 picks without someone who can play a top-line centre role, I'm going to be irate. Teams don't win Stanley Cups by having their best 3 forwards on the wing (i.e. Stutzle, Tkachuk, Raymond), and quite frankly White, Norris, and Brown are not nearly good enough for them to waste a golden opportunity to shore up the centre position. I know some people will argue that Stutzle "can" play centre, but if he's more effective on the wing then I was to see them add someone like Rossi to just handle the responsibilities of that position.

Plus, I'd actually agree that if they could get interest from someone like Taylor Hall, that would be a good use of resources while so many of the young players are still on ELC/bridge deals. Put a top-line of Tkachuk-Rossi-Hall on the ice next year along with something like Stutzle-Norris-Batherson, and you might see the team take some major steps forward, and see a lot of renewed interest from the fan base.

I think it's moronic if they want to get "NHL" ready players only. It's all about who's best when this team is ready to contend. I don't care if we don't see them in Ottawa until 2022. Not like people will be running to the arenas with COVID

I like the trade possibilities but WHY NOT sign these guys and not give up assets! They also have 2 players making more than 4.5m - these cheap bas tards!

Balcers could have a good year. His +/- was awesome this year (better than Batherson, Norris, Formenton) ...don't think anyone was better in fact, think Jaros was tied

I definitely would not sign taylor hall 12 million one year for what? Sens could possibly not even make playoffs why blow 12 milli to watch hall dance. When u can use that money get other players with term. I'd rather fix our starting goalie issue and sign a consistent goalie for half that price and fix our other issues

Who's in this year's draft is a better center than what we have in the system right now.

I agree just too much love for Brady from management. Especially Smith has a heck of a man crush for him.

Well, Byfield/Rossi are by virtually any account, and you can add Stutzle/Perfetti if you believe they're more than wingers. Plus, even Lapierre/Zary or Lundell/Bourque/Perreault would be an upgrade on at least some of the C in the system. White/Tierney/Pinto are 2C/3C options at best, and Brown looks like he's maybe the closest of any major prospect to being on the trading block. That leaves Norris, who has certainly exceeded all expectations... but really doesn't have the same dynamic upside as what's available in the upper tier of this draft.

My point is to buy assets. Sign a guy like Hall, not to make the playoffs ( I don't think he would get them there) but to use as a trade chip at the deadline. If he has a half decent year you could trade him for a first and other good young assets to continue to fill the cupboard.

In regards to the $12M, yes its a lot but it may be what it takes to get him to come. If not Hall, you could try the same with Krug or Pieterangelo. With the flat cap there may not be a lot of big dollar long term contract offers.

I know it won't happen as Melynk has no interest in doing this type of thing (ie spend money), even if it can make the team better.

The Senators need another elite defenseman, they will pick Sanderson at 5 if he is still available. If not then Drysdale.
