Edmunds was an injury replacement for Hightower for the ProBowl
He was NOT an original selection,
and he was certainly not an “all pro”

Apparantly you fail to grasp the significance of limiting a Dman to the redline, or you just disregard it for convenience. Your question isn't valid as you want go disregard the impact of limitations placed upon him in your vociferous quest to get an answer involving numbers.

Consider how many goals would Ovie have if he was limited to go no further than redline.
Do you think PB37 would have the gaudy defensive stats if his coach limited him to comeback only as far as the redline?

It is critical actually.

Believe the Krueger system is effective in limiting scoring chances against, while significantly handcuffing the offensively gifted Dmen in Dahlin and Montour, joker to a lesser extent.
I blame the system.
Furthermore, it is boring ass hockey to watch.
I stand with our former Blogger Ghofrani in desiring a more high event style game.

When they drafted dahlin I expected more than 13 goals in 2 nhl seasons.

I didnt consider ralph, I considered phail lousley.

You know, the guy that played forward as a defenseman. He was going to in my opinion, groom dahlin and let him fly.

Where did the 267 shots come from in his career. The 4% shooting percentage. All considerations of underwhelming goal production.

But sure, he wasn't allow to pass the red line. That's a convenient excuse on your part. The 219 shot attempts last year were from the redline or beyond.

Ok

Very reasonable post. Dahlin will get better and stronger .

Just thought he would be a better goal scorer. Bring us to not 25th place with his 4 goals this season.

The highlights had him dangling .

You had him for a goal every 15 games this season on your bingo card?

- Boss34

This should have tipped you off that something was different, MUCH different this past season from his rookie season.

2018 - '19: 2019 - '20
9 Goals. 4 Goals (-56%sh)
ATOI = 20:23. 19:18 (-5%)
Shots = 177. 90 (--50%)
xGF = 67.9. 29.1 (-60%sh)

The system handcuffed him and many others.
The system also dramatically reduced offensive goals and defensive goals against.
Boring ass hockey, hopefully it changes.

Time to completely overhaul the roster to play more like Avs, Canes, Bolts, etc

Dahlin isn’t the best defensemen ever yet? Only the third highest teenage scoring defensemen ever?

1st bold is painfully obvious.
See my next post...format sucks, but look at the difference in years between Housley and Ralph.
If you can't admit that Ralph's system handcuffed him, then you clearly dont get it.
You can see that from the 300's and on TV...maybe not down with the hockey dads, lol.
Also, upgrade your TV to a 75" and watch replays if the game...move in close though.

The last point is explained very well..177 came in 1st year with a very high xGF computation showing in part they were high Danger shots. His 2nd year was down 60% (but in many fewer games too), none the less the xGF suggests much much lower High and Medium Danger shots...so Low Danger shots...you know, from way way out...not quite the red line, but the blue line after zone entry. Ralph's system expected Dmen to pass the puck to F's before the redline, fact.

Now, if you look at his rookie season performance, it would have been natural for one to have projected a coach to turn him loose a bit more given excellent results for a 18 yo rookie...and result in those 12-15 goals you are solely focused on. But, Krueger and Smith were trying to teach him defensive responsibi,ities to turn him into a complete Dman...you will remember it was the buzz for the 1st 20 games...they had his head firmly up his ass he was so confused and handcuffed.

But disregard facts.

Oooooh. How many points away from Housley was the once in a life time 13 Goal Dahlin? Would you say a whole seasons worth of points 100% Positive COVID Broadary? Points don’t matter except when they do with you. Players peak at an earlier age with you except when they don’t. I’ll continue to beat u like the brain dead drum you are. Stop making yourself look stupid by arguing an irrefutable point such as Dahlin hasn’t lived up to the once in a life time talent U built him up to be. Admit you were wrong wussy. U won’t.

Traded to Linköping HC for future considerations to play with the other soft Swedes, with Sam, who - while not swedish - is an honorary swede due to his perceived lack of truculence
