There's a snowballs chance in hell that TW opts out. Someone told me a long time ago that money is the ultimate motivator 3ER, don't ever forget it. I haven't.

No one thought it made much sense at the time
At least i know i didn’t

I believe Panarin said he wanted to play in a “big city”
I think Chicago qualifies
But again... pretty sure none of that came out till he was in Columbus
Idk if he told Chicago he wouldn’t re-sign there or not?
But it’s assumed 1. they didn’t wanna pay him big $$ bc they had Kane & Toews with big contracts
And it’s well known they didn’t like his defense & 2. Toews wanted Saad back

They could’ve traded Panarin elsewhere & gotten more for him
Getting back Saad was important

- jdfitz77

Bottom statement, maybe, perhaps you're correct, coulda got more. They got great value for him, imo.

Artemi Panarin thought he'd play whole career with Blackhawks

The honest truth is that for the Blackhawks, Artemi Panarin is the one that got away. A new truth, perhaps harder to swallow, is that the "Breadman" never wanted to leave.

When I played here in Chicago I [thought] I would play here my whole life," said Panarin, whose 79 points are good for fifth in the league this season. "And then that happened. It still confuses me."

How so?
I’m saying it’s ridiculous for Homie to be criticizing him
Especially from the top of his morality high horse

- jdfitz77

it appeared that you were lumping all athletes together into some giant sin bubble.
If that is incorrect, I rescind. If I'm correct, the stereotype is poor.

Again... not saying i agreed with it
Those are just the reasons that were out there at the time

I thought it was a horrible trade for Chicago

What a (frank)ing joke. It was all about money and return. Imagine trying to defend that trade in a vacuum (salaries irrelevant) because Saad is better two way. (frank)ing Christ I feel like I'm taking crazy pills today.
- TheSabresTaco

It was not about the money it was his defense

Hell they just moved a number 1 d to us for nothing ..

And you're defending them

I feel he won't opt out, but all the guys who have, just lost a year's worth of salary. Careers are short.

Where exactly do the Hawks have room for a 12M salary. Half their (frank)ing roster is ELC and they're rammed up to the cap.

It’s certainly not uncommon
We all could make a really long list of athletes who have cheated on their wives or girlfriends...
And/or who haven’t exuded the highest moral standards

And this includes many of the guys we look up to as “heroes”

It’s nonsense on Homie’s part
I’m sure Jimmy Vesey is a saint though 😂😂😂
