You have no fear of Nolan Patrick never playing another game?

And that contract is why I don't think Rhino gets what people think.

Let's say you get Reinhart to sign for $5.5M, which feels at least a million low. How many years will that deal be? I can't imagine it would be longer than 2, if even that.

At best, you hope Reinhart signs for $5.5M per and then becomes a point per game player, but if he does, you're going to have to sign him to a big pay day after the next 2 seasons.

Nope.
Because I have no fear of Casey playing another game for the Sabres...and unless he does a complete 180, he will be another Nylander.
So, I view those two as a wash (out).

Now, Koneckny a little younger puting up 0.90 ppg ...sign me the F up! I haven't watched Philly too much, but wonder if he could play Center. In any event, faster, more tenacious.

Good stuff, I generally agree.
However, one aspect to consider is Sam is Arb Eligible...so, he could take them there this year, then do it again next offseason and boom he becomes a UFA the following season. Timing would theoretically be perfect for him. In Arb, I could see a $6 - 6.5 per.

I can't imagine him being too team friendly given his hold-out last time and the fact he "proved it" during his prove 2 year deal. If I were him, I'd view that as 2 years of about $1.5m+/- lost earnings per year...so around $3m ... ain't chump change.

Paying a premium because CAR is better at negotiating contracts is tough to stomach, but true. Would be a pleasant surprise if we negotiated something remotely close, in term and $. I don't see that happening. We're more likely to mess up on both term (too short or too long) and $ (almost a given that we're paying significantly more).

Fun list to consider. Lot of them are close calls, imo.

I don't view the 2nd round pick as much of a premium.

If you view the players as comparable, I think that's a significant premium. Not looking to argue the wording. They signed him to a great deal, coming off a 2 year bridge same as Sam.

I would take 2 more years of Rhino at 5.5mill, I think most young players are gonna take shorter contracts for a bigger payday when the cap rises. I would take Tervanien, just don't think you have to give up the 2nd.

I can't imagine ever putting a 2 year offer on the table. Just doesn't make sense to let him go straight into UFA.

I don't view them as comparable, as I believe Teravainen is the better player on a better deal.

At least the Sabres could have offered up a superstar in Jack and a rising superstar in Dahlin while getting swept by the Canes

But not the nyc tv market
Pretty easy to understand why the nhl figured out a way to include NyR & Chi

Also... i think this has all been pretty cool so far
NHL should keep the playoffs this way!
*not in hub cities, but with 24teams making it
It would provide a much needed revenue boost going forward- esp when the new tv deals come into play

You should talk!
You’re the one who brought my name back up,
NOT the other way around

U blaming Ralph for Vesey underperforming is comical
He’s not an 18min a night player
Not even close
And Larsson or MoJo are the “dish the puck” Center that would’ve helped him produce? 😂😂😂

Ruotsalainen staying in Finland until 'further notice'.

I'm sure it's just a formality, considering their season will start months before ours.

Any NFL players that opt out this year will owe their stipends back to the team next year. No free money.

What's the riddle for today Kong?
Good stuff last night with Sam trades.

I was thinking of the Sam + Joker for Larkin deal last night.
I'd really hate to lose Joker, so I'd try nearly everything else before ultimately giving in.

Eichel, Larkin, Cozens down the middle would be unrivaled.
In terms of filling holes:
- at Forward
* 2020-8OA should help although we likely wait another year, Mojo fills that slot for now
* trade of Risto should bring in a decent RW
* probably go UFA route for another RW, or use Kahun there

- at Defense
* Montour and Miller should be ok for 2nd & 3rd pairing
* UFA route for 1st RhD and 2nd LhD

Perhaps with Larkin in the fold and RW from Risto trade, UFA's woul look at the core as very young and very talented increasing the odds of signing here. Solidifying that 1RhD in UFA would become paramount...how many teams could offer a 1st pairing role next to a very young high-end partner?

A young team with 1 good center giving up that one good center and not getting one in return? Interesting.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a few more go overseas.
