Thomas Townsend: Playoff Start Date, Torts for Jack Adams, Matthews Cleared to Play

I dunno, man. I think everyone expected Cassidy to have a contender. Torts and AV not so much. The Mid Atl is rather deep, yet Torts took what was believed to be a pretty decimated team before the season, and really juiced them for everything they had. Meanwhile AV took the Flyers to within a point of the Caps, and they were even atop the division at one point down the stretch.

Both of those guys have a totally legit chance, for sure.

Torts has grown with the game he gets stronger when road blocks are put up. I believe the Bluejackets will beat the Leafs. Cassidy didn’t have to move any mountains where he is at, so why should he win?

Definitely nervous about playing the Jackets. Very well oiled machine, hard working bunch. My hope is that the quick start to playing again will have them off their usual game, as most early season games can be sloppy affairs, leaning more towards offense. But the Jackets are dangerous and no leaf fan should be happy with this matchup.

The main thing the Jackets miss is a superstar scorer that can drive play. They have a young, talented team, but need more offense. If Breadman was still on this team I think they could contend for the Cup in the next year or two.
