But the correct move, the move they needed to make, was to keep him here for the duration of the contract... And have your Dury (with Eichel as your Briere). They spent to the cap on garbage and anyway. Why not just pay the good players, your leaders, the contract ownership signed off on in the first place? With nothing else different but reversing the ORiley trade, they’re in the playoffs this year.

Sounds like the Sabres are just trying to play it cheap of late. I know the NYR or Toronto wouldn’t be scared of paying their guys.

And for that matter let’s not give the Pegulas so much credit for turning around the Bills either... They did pass on Mahomes, D.Watson and L.Jackson after all, some All-Pro and MVP talents. A lot of Bills teams have had good defenses in the past, but identifying a HoF QB is what takes u to the SuperBowl.

I've never been shooting for the fences with Point or Cirelli

I would like Monahan and haven't thought much about Backlund

- GilPerreault11

You get point or cirelli, lock them down for 6 x 8 million.

Eichel
Point or cirelli
Cozens
Asplund

Man looking back at that 2015 draft, I know you can't change it, but if Buffalo would have just kept all there picks and drafted well, we are talking a whole different story right know, we messed up.

They had him if they wanted him... Don’t tell me for the first time in their ownership career they thought twice about meddling?Buffalo traded the pick to KC that was used on Mahomes. Rumor was it was McDermontt calling the shots in that draft because they liked his vision.

That's why they picked Josh it was their pick

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the final straw for former Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley came during the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday, when he traded the No. 10 selection to the Kansas City Chiefs rather than draft quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

According to that report, owner Terry Pegula "loved" Mahomes and "stumped hard" for him.

Whaley was fired by the Bills on Sunday

And when Tampa says they want Cozens AND the 8th overall this year for either Point or Cirelli, you as the Sabres GM respond with...?

(frank)ing could have drafted Cirelli if they would have kept that 62nd pick, know we want to trade for him.

Good question

If either point or cerelli were extended , sign and trade.

Larkin as well. 6 years x 8 = 48 million

I make the trade. It's like getting 2 players. Skinner gets a center he needs for the next 6 years.

Prospects are suspects

I would do it for Point, Not for Cirelli, Larkin probably worth it too.

Correct - Whaley was a lame duck gm after he shat all over himself In the year end press conference in January. They had to keep him and the scouts due to the draft being in April. He, and most of the scouts were fired right after the draft. No way he was going to be allowed to choose the QB of the future especially after his and Nix’s last QB of the future worked out so well (Manuel). Pegula, in fact, was rumored to like Watson not Mahomes. The next years QB class was rumored to be strong and the Bills pick (thought to be top 5 before they overachieved) an KCs would allow them to have basically anybody they wanted.

- kingcong39

tampa knew what they had, right after blue jackets bounced them they talked about his extended role for this season

Well if Josh grows again this year, we might not be talking about it anymore other then saying we got 3 good football players out of that move.
