You clearly are not understanding the 99 out of 100 statement ..
- gerbe75pts

Per Jim Collins, evidence does not support the idea you need an outside leader...10 out of 11 good to great CEO's come from inside the company.

I tend to side with Jim Collins over any poster on here (not named 3ER) on this matter.

You are deflecting my answer with another question.

You asked what the pegulas have done?

They brought in eichel.

If the other 2nd overall pick was a star, we would be in much better shape. Instead hes just decent.

- Boss34

Following the They brought Eichel logic, they missed on McDavid, they also brought the guy you spew complete hate for; Sam...and they brought in Nylander...and they brought in Mitts, and Dahlin, and Cozens..
Blah, blah, blah.

That argument is pretty weak, doesn't hold alot of water.

Fair enough, but have you ever promoted from within?

Maybe someone that is working exceptionally hard, regardless of the situation surrounding he/she?

Maybe so the employee doesnt leave your business?

Familiarity is a human response.

They hired so many coaches and gms, they probably have a rolodex of information on available outside hires.

my business requires quality control of the highest standard, and I do not trust anyone but myself for that

Every, if not most are unqualified, they jump into their own pro teams as toys and learn what they are doing. It's interesting how the chauvinist males on here beat up the female owner and the Sabres and Bills have had some male inept ones.
- GilPerreault11

Wrong.
The successful ones hire a competent staff, set the Objectives, Expectations and the Budget for the franchise...then get out of the way.
They then go back to being a super fan with unique access.

it's a small business

it's a very good business which allowed me to have no credit card debt, no car payments, a paid off house and a country club membership before I turned 45

You shouldn't compare your business to other big businesses ..

Its common for very small family business to do that

Wrong

They need to know who would be a competent staff in pro sports it doesn't happen through osmosis. Some may get out of the way, many don't. I love how there are many people who post on here and just paint everything with a flat brush.

pretty sure nobody said Kim was a bad NHL president because she is a female

she is a bad NHL president because it's a full time job, which requires many NHL caliber aspects which she is not qualified for

a hockey fan can own the team, an NHL executive needs to run the team

That doesn't give them a free pass.

Their arrogance and stubbornness to change how they operate at the top of the hockey department is insulting to this fanbase.

Because LaFontaine didn't work out, they refuse to revisit the PoHO and hire someone with ACTUAL HOCKEY KNOWLEDGE to run it.

Did they save the franchise only to ruin it, one non playoff year at a time?

Believe me I’m with you. They shouldn’t be involved period and their track record proves it. The only problem is they hold all the cards and they have a vote each and we have none.

I realize that and that is the point. They can virtually do whatever they want and because the market is so good they will survive.

they're the owners...right or wrong, good or bad, they're the ones that plunked down the money and they're the ones with their asses on the line...i don't like what's transpired, but they're the owners and they will do what they feel is right...

and yes, you're right, they'll survive in a good market like buffalo

I second this opinion.

Kim Pegula being the President of both the Bills and Sabres is a complete joke. It has nothing to do with her being Asian or a woman. It has everything to do with her incompetence, complete lack of professional sports team management experience and lack of relevant education. For Pete's sake, she was a waitress until Terry Pegula came along.

I run a company with 90 employees. The owners provide the capital. They leave me alone so that me and my management team can do our jobs which is to run a successful small business. They have never tried to run the company themselves because me and my team have the expertise and experience. There job is to write the checks and then get the hell out of the way. This is the way it should be with the Sabres and Bills as well.

The only common denominator regarding the Sabres pathetic performance over the past nine years is ownership. End of story.

Nope.

Trade the 8th OA pick and you’re stuck with your thumb in your butt watching a top 6 forward play for another organization for the next 10 years.

All for what ? Whom are we acquiring that is worth that pick ?

I’m sure Devils fans are thrilled they traded Bo Horvat for Cory Schneider

- Pegullaville

The first few years Schneider was great and had a crap team in front of him

Since his hip surgery he has gone totally downhill, very very tough for a goalie to come back from the hip surgery he had

And I believe he had another surgery on it last off-season too

If he played like he did prior to the injury no one would be saying bad trade, unfortunately injuries happen

They mistakes have been well documented.

He asked for a positive.

Benning seems like the type who would like Risto.

Risto, Mitts, 2021 first rounder for Boeser

How good is Boeser? Serious question.
