yet ralph is running the show, knowing the goalie was being played with bad vision

it's like the reaction doesn't make sense based on the action

- homiedclown

I agree. Seems like a complete malfunction.

Goaltending really was the difference last season in my opinion.

Imagine good or even great goaltending

Completely agree that they can be just bad at the hockey. But they were clearly forced into the lineup above their current development at the time, it was a disaster and Terry (the second smartest person to ever own a hockey team) wants to see more “kids” rushed to the big club.
- Gr8daygo

This is the second post I've seen that talks about rushing kids.

Did he really say that?

They suck as owners, and continuously hire the wrong people, and 9 years out of the playoffs proves it.

There's more to owning a team than having a fancy dressing room.

It's great that they fired a lazy scouting department, but how can you defend these two?

You guus act like they did everything wrong all they did was listen to hockey people to bring in TM and DB and then they listened to penguin people about bringing botts then they talked to all the people in the NHL circles about Housley they all said you need to hire him ..

What more do you want ?

Someone in the room with them who understands the NHL to consult them on the information provided by other teams and the league.

This is a good post

They hired hockey people and feel short changed.

When you run a business. hiring employees isnt easy.

-find guy talent with upside and good references
- experience is important
- hire someone who he going to be easy to work with

Kagm fits in my opinion.

Lacks experience

It's interesting that the narrative around Botterill is the reason the Pegula's changed their mind in a short period of time is Botterill not wanting to go along with their house cleaning approach.

If that is true, where was Botterill's spine when they had markedly better offers on the table for O'Reilly when Pegula refused to pay the bonus first to make those better offers happen?

Like the rest of his tenure, it took him too long to decide to do something.

Please tell me where they went wrong? They have contacts with lots of nhl people yet you people think they pick random people out of a hat

You guys are complaining about the Pegulas when they have done everything the fans wanted

And now they're doing it their way because getting the best GM and coach didn't work

- gerbe75pts

really?

I did not know they went out and got the best GM for the franchise

translation, no vet GM wants anything to do with these owners

1) Do not interfere and issue ultimatums to trade players
2) Understand that some players aren't the most refined people, are young, and make stupid mistakes
3) pay the damn bonus when anyone with a functioning brain could see the player return was significantly worse by refusing to pay it. The long-term results outweigh the short-term bravado
4) realize you are a fan boy and fan girl and have zero ability in running the organization.

C'mon Gerbe, even you are better than this

and special teams

the pk struggled at times, and the pp was focused on feeding olofsson

it will be interesting to see if they spend to the cap or hang around the 70 mil mark

I think the worst thing they can do is bring in enough vets where casey, cozens and tage can't earn a top 9 roster spot

Sure , special teams failed them.

Really seems like some soft early goals that effected their psyche in games.

Anyone who has played hockey understands, goaltender stats vs. Key save moments.
Confidence in your goaltender is crucial

Hutton had a great run early , back to back shutouts.
But the bad was really bad, definitely disheartening to the players.

I'd be surprised if the Sabres didnt spend to the cap.
After all teri is a fan, and wants to see them win
