If we buy out Okposo we are ok to sign Skunk. Otherwise, it will get tricky 2-3 years from now.
Calgary in cap trouble. Maybe a possible target for a trade.

How sure are you that this proposed lineup would keep Jack from asking for a trade? I'm not trolling, it's an honest question.

Well, there are no names attached to it, only the model itself. But to answer your question, if we assume the heavy investment up front isn't more misplaced dollars and actually brings back value, im fairly confident it would be a playoff team, which *should* be enough to keep Eichel happy.

The team's going to need to make trades over anything else, and finally bring in guys that don't bring negative value, like Simmonds, Sobotka, Berglund and Frolik.

The reason our home record is significantly better than our away record is that as long as Jack's line has final change, they dominate. They're a very strong line. Away, with first change, the opposing team takes out the Eichel line, they take out the team. Balance the second line, for the love of Christ.

You don't have Goalofsson in your lineup. I guess he fits the 2nd line winger. Are you a lifelong Sabres fan? One of the biggest problems the Sabres had in the post Drury/Briere era is they were paying everyone on the roster 4-5 mil. All these players making that much and only one skater that was a superstar, Vanek. The team never had cap space to bring in other superstars and couldn't move any of their players because they made too much for their production. I would prefer to use bigger % of cap on a few AAV contracts and infuse more entry level/replacement players. The bigger AAV contracts are supposed to make the entry level/replacement players play above their value.

I don't disagree, but they've already spent plenty on upper end talent in Eichel, Skinner and we presume Reinhart as well.

We could certainly argue whether they are worth it or should be swapped out, but the spending is about in line with what you see from most top heavy teams.

As i mentioned, they could certainly spend beyond the 5 mil i wrote in for "2nd line centre" if a higher end talent is available (and they should do that) but those players typically don't become available in any given off season unless somethings gone wrong.

(waits for several ROR jokes from everyone)

I’d cross Rick Dudley off the list of landing with the #Sabres.

Kim and Terry value his import like they did Lafontaine

it was a puppet position not a hockey position with the franchise

I feel Dudley would have fit in well, especially with his experience in Carolina with using analytics in both pro and amateur ranks.

It’s unfortunate
