I'm sure they probably tested the waters, but if they were willing to take the best offer available, I'm sure they could have moved him, especially considering they were in a position to retain max salary.

Lewis was actually pretty good for the week or two prior to the play stoppage. There were several occasions where I actually had to stop and say, "Wow, was that Lewis?"

I can see the Kings extending Lewis for one year if they feel that JAD needs another year in the AHL. Now that Prokhorkin is expected to return to the KHL, they have an open spot in the lineup that will either go to JAD, Luff, or Lewis. I personally think Luff is terrible and shouldn't get another game in a Kings jersey ever again.

Towards the end of the season when the Kings are looking to recall players like Turcotte or Madden to their 9-game showcases, Lewis would likely be a healthy scratch. It doesn't hurt to have a guy of his flexibility available in case of the inevitable mid-season injuries. However, if JAD is ready to make the jump, then I think we don't see Lewis return.

From debating Byfield/Stutzle to debating Lewis. Talk about coming down off of the mountain and getting back to work.

I read somewhere that they did try to trade Lewis, but there weren't any takers, at least for what LA was asking for (which was probably not much).

Trevor Lewis is a testament to the “culture” Dean Lombardi created when he took the job as GM.

TLew was drafted by the Kings, developed by the Kings, brought up & down from the A, shuffled up & down the lineup in the show, and has a couple rings on his fingers, as well.

I think paying him the league minimum to be a bottom 6, professional influence, and reminder of what it takes to be a champion, to the next crop of prospects.

Lewis can fill-in throughout the lineup incase of injury, and be fine with being healthy’d when it makes sense for the team to give more minutes elsewhere.

His contract should be a 2-way, as I think he could extend his pro career in the AHL if he wants to play that “seasoned vet” role.

The key to this rebuild is managing expectations, and developing talent at their own rate.

Trevor Lewis has more value to the Kings organization than any other team in the league.
