Tough question, if both were 18 and available for me to draft, I would take Tavares. If it is today and I have the chance to have Giroux or Tavares career to date stats and play added to my team, I take giroux. If I only get to add their career from today to retirement to my team I take Tavares.
That’s 2 to 1 for Tavares but the one based off of known stats, imho, goes to Giroux. Plus, Giroux has overperformed his predraft projection and JT has either met or underperformed predraft projections.
What it really comes down to is Flyers fans and Leafs fans who are both among the largest fanbase in the nhl..... so I say the winner goes to clicks foe the website.
G all day, JT is a coward. They beat the panthers when he was in NYI, potentially 1 of two playoff births while he was in Long Island and people thought this guy was a god lol Frank out of here.

lol. Who has Giroux beat in the last 9 years? 10 points in 19 playoff games over that time. #worldbeater
Tavares has a much better goal scoring % and has significantly better possession stats, but has also arguably played with better players on his line for longer (Okposo, Vanek, Marner et al)
Giroux - much better contract, mostly Voracek and Voarecek with one year of Jagr and two odd of moving to wing with Couturier on his line. Elite on FOs recently and better than JT (who is still very good).
Putting aside my home bias, edge probably to Tavares on paper if we ignore contract.
Yeah, that was NINE years ago. Still filling your belly, is it?
Last time you guys made the playoffs, Pitt beat you 28-15 over 6 games.
Anyway, I shouldn't be this argumentative. Despite being a Rangers fan and hating the Flyers, I love Giroux. He IS incredible. But, to say out of hand that he is clearly better than Tavares is kind of silly. They are both still very high-level players more than a decade into their careers. That type of player is not so easily quantified.
All this aside, I actually hope the Flyers play their way to the top of the round robin coming up. Seen enough of Tampa, Boston and Wash having success to last quite some time. Philly has a number of players I really like at this point in time. It's just hard to keep focus away from that horrible orange!!!!
