This explains the depth of your intelligence. A puddle after a brief shower is deeper.

I've never seen most of these, but can agree with the bolded ones.

What about Slapshot?

Tanner doesn't watch hockey so why would he watch a hockey movie?

He was endorsed by the Klu Klux Klan.

Case closed. Next.

- GalacticStone

No candidate can control who endorses him.

Trump has numerous times denounced the KKK and other white supremacists.

LOL. True, but the endorsing person/party controls who they endorse and they endorse those who most closely share their values. Do you even know what an endorsement is?

Tanner - you watching this? The guy is running up your replies trying to defend a racist and he keeps dodging my marriage proposal like it's a joke or something.

Dude, please just stop. It’s shocking how easily you take Tanner’s bait. You’re embarrassing yourself, and single-handedly ruining these threads.

You seem to grasp the fact that you’re being baited. So just don’t respond. It’s the only reasonable course of action. Please.

Trump does not share the same values as the KKK.

You can choose to respond or not to respond. I will do the same for myself. Standing up for what is right is not embarrassing. If you feel these threads are being ruined, than all the blogger and site management has to do is to keep politics out of it. Tanner's rhetoric is not going to be left unchecked. He can't and hasn't baited me. I reply in and of my own free will.

Surely you realize that by clicking and responding, you’re virtually guaranteeing that he continues to bring up politics in every blog.

Anyways, no need to respond. I’m done.

so some fringe group of ~5,000 people that nobody cares about in a country of 337M people speaks for the president?

must of been those 5,000 vote that made the difference in the last election

give your head a shake.

Keep telling yourself that. It doesn't make it true.

Because replies to an obscure hockey blog site matter so much. LOL.

Tanner is raking in millions by mentioning Trump in his blogs.

There are blogs that regularly get 5 or less replies and they still keep blogging.

Literally, nobody cares.

I only care because I am here looking for a husband. You want? I can thrill you.

Politics isn't just politics anymore. It's basic human decency.

I don't agree with a lot of Tanner's hockey opinions, but at least his head is screwed on right with "political" stuff.

You know, you don't have to click on his blogs. You can ignore them.

- GalacticStone

As a Canadian, my views tends to lean conservatively. But if I was an American I would not be going to the polls this year. I couldn’t vote for his opponents as I don’t agree fully agree with their governing ideals, so while many say a no-vote is a vote for him I would consider myself one less vote for the Dems to cancel out. Only Dem I would actually have probably voted for would have been yang but I feel like in the long run he will be given the Bernie treatment every time he tries to run.

This site desperately needs an ignore user function. That said, even though I'm not a Coyotes fan, I always enjoy a James Tanner post. And as a user above said, what politics has descended to requires a response from anyone with basic human decency, especially in the hockey community where nobody wants to rock the boat so crap can fester so easily. If we can call out the worst people in hockey blogs maybe they won't feel so welcome bringing their garbage to our hockey blogs. Or elsewhere.

Exactly.

I never felt the need to mention politics prior to 2016 when the greediest bastards in the history of the world saw their time at an end (because around now is the first election of our lives where Baby Boomers will not choose the winner, and the decline of whites as a percentage of the population) and decided to nominate an actual clown to take attention away from their insidious plan to defund the goverment, get as much money as they can and stock the courts with hard right judges in their 30s with no actual claim to such a job.

It worked brilliantly, but at the same time, the consequences are going to be hard to live with. I get why guys like MLJ can't face the truth. I wouldn't want to.

Don't sit there and act like decency is an obscure thing we can't identify.

If you won't change your mind after your hero kills almost 200 000 people, I'll give you a hint: you probably aren't much of a decent guy.

The Mrs- Tan - Tan Boy let's Jimmy know that it is the first of the month, "and rent is due"......Wow...He went there?(again)(again)(again)(again)(again). The worst part(besides my contribution)Is that MJL, Rentz, And Kooleze, Keep falling for it!

Well at the time he was certainly guilty of doing something racist in ignorance.

But oveall it's a no for me, and this is the kind of insubstantial non-issue that actually impedes real progress.

Here is why: he did it at a time when people regularly did it without consequences. When he did it, he almost certainly didn't even consider that there was anything wrong with doing it.

But importantly, he grew up, and learned that it was not OK to do. He apologized and has vowed to learn to know better, which I think in 2020 he certainly does.

If Trudeau kept on doing racist things, I'd happily call him out for it. I voted for him, but I don't love him exclusively, and unlike Trumps cult, we hold our own guy to account.

It's a lot like the Don Cherry stuff. It's not so much what he said, as the fact that he doesn't listen to why it was wrong. If he had of acknowledged and changed in any of the first dozen or say racist controversies he was involved in, he wouldn't have got fired.

I think people have to be given the chance to grow and learn, especially if they take responsibility and actually try to change.

Hi James,

I'm wondering if you have read the book White Fragility or even perused some information regarding its main ideas. If you don't know anything about it, no worries. But if you happen to know a little bit about it, I'm curious if you feel that kind of message should be considered helpful progress for society or if you concur with Matt Taibi's perspective.

https://taibbi.substack.com/p/on-white-fragility

Thanks!
