He's going to have to make at least one savvy trade, and I can't imagine the word "savvy" being associated with "rookie GM".

But hey, maybe he turns water into wine.

Why do the trades have to be savvy?

If they can turn Ristolainen, Montour, and Reinhart for example into Copp, Monahan, Savard, and Anderson, that would go a very long way, and I'm not sure those would be considered savvy.

Because we are not dealing from a position of strength when it comes to deals. Our roster blows.

Kahun might be considered a savvy move, because Botts basically gave up nothing.

We need another one like it.

I thought the idea was to ADD talent to this roster, not spin our wheels.

Jokiharju was another savvy move.

The roster isn't great, but a change in philosophy can easily work towards improving it.

Like, using Reinhart to get a 2nd line Center.

Like using Ristolainen and Montour to improve the forwards.

Agree but Reinhart and Montour being RFA and expecting to get PAID makes trading them complicated in the pandemic/flat cap era. Risto has been available for a couple years and no takers so dont think for a minute were getting a legit 2C straight up for him.

Joker was a great move, agreed.

I love the idea of Savard. He is widely regarded as a "winner", battles hard every shift, etc.

And when I say "savvy", I actually mean "win the trade"😂

Darcy had a few of those.

They haven't been trying to trade Ristolainen yet.

The case for Anton Lundell at pick 8 for the Sabres:

After Laf and Byfield, Lundell is the player I am most sure will have a good/great nhl career. We never really actually know but if I can get that player at 8 I’m running to the stage

Bye bye sam.

Sam could probably keep up a his career numbers playing with McKinnon

A goal every .2725 games - basically 1 goal every 4 games. 109 in 400 games
And an assist every .365 games- basically an assist every 3 games. 146 in 400 games

- Boss34

Or, or..
Since he was on track for 60 pts this season, and had 65 last season, let's agree that he is a 60-65 pt player, with of those being goals.

Not horrible production.
His next contract at$7.0 will be cause for concern IMO.
That trade sucks...a young C who is puting up 4th line points, and 3rd pairing Dman isn't what his value should return.

I wouldn't do that trade, I would want another piece atleast. Colorado has a lot of cap space so they really wouldn't be a big deal for them to pay Rhino.

Funny thing, they most think something of Tyson, he is on the 1st PP unit. But he doesn't get much ice time, think he Averaged like 13 min a game.

If the Jets win the first overall pick, they make great trading partners with Buffalo.

To WPG: Jack Eichel, Kyle Okposo

To BUF: Patrik Laine, Adam Lowry, 2020 2nd round pick, 2021 first round pick, 2021 third round pick

I would not hate that trade at all ...... Sam at 2C is not even close to a slam dunk of a good idea.

If the sabres get dudley and luce ......... my faith would be restored in the pegulas.

If they just get dudley ..... the pegulas will need some more good PR for the next few months. Like the new blue and gold jerseys would have to be amazing.

but a step in the right direction

And if they dont get dudley or luce ..... LET THE FRANCHISE BURN

I kinda like both jost and zadarov.
Maybe for different reasons.

Jost looked good early on in his career. 7 even goals a season average. Still young.

Zadarov is a physical presence. Super soft Sabres, maybe eichel wants a guy that intimidates like big z?

There was 0 response when z crushed eichel
Colorado sailed to a victory

Maybe they add a 2nd?

Well if you have to have Johnson at #2 center... maybe with another gunner on the wing like Olafson, it might be a decent 2nd line.

Sam is smart player and great passer tho, he could do make some slick plays with a couple high octane wingers.

Thats a fair offer but Reinhart has not proven he can be an NHL C and I have my doubts about his defensive game in that role.

Those wingers tho... Skinner has mitts and can skate like the wind, Olie has a cannon for a shot and quick release.

All Sam would have to do is identify the smart play and make the slick pass, 2 things he does really well.

Nope.
Adding more crap adds up to a bigger quantity of crap.

You're giving up a bonafide 1RW, for maybe a 3C and a 3rd pairing...losing 20 goals on a goal starved team?
Makes zero sense, IMO.

Ristolainen and Zadorov looked great together as a young pair. I’d do McCabe for Zadorov straight up.

Well I still believe Luce is under contract, but don't be surprised with Dudley.

At this point, just be happy if they can pull off Dudley...

Meddling ownership, rookie GM, rookie head of scouting, inexperienced re-tread coach w losing record...

Maybe, just maybe... Dudley could stable this ship.
