My guess is: the version we saw in Florida this year. He doesn't have Torts and that dreadfully boring brand of hockey to play behind anymore .... or the horses up front (Bread-man ...) to keep the puck of of their zone (for very long) either.

Isles in 3 (or 5 or whatever)

^^All this.^^

I'm worried about the Islander being as horrific as they were in their last 10+ games.

It's a reasonable concern, although I think getting Pelech and Cizikas back should be a big help in getting back to playing solid, Trotz hockey.

My guess considering your team is +Trotz and -Ovi (level skill) is you'll be lucky to get out of the second round. Bread would have made the difference (he shoulda choose you..)

Lets just hope we don't come up against any of the goalies in the link pulling off some of these saves. Enjoy your hockey-fix for the day.

Perhaps Pan realized the Islanders play on their heels rather than their toes, and his numbers would drop under the Trotz system. It's getting painful watching Barzal skate around waiting for someone to hit a lane and go to the net, but they too often stay put so they can jump back on defense.

The defense-offense formula is out of balance. Playoff teams will do just like Carolina did last year and play a stay at home style and jump on Islander mistakes. When they score, they will continue to stay at home and not try to build a big lead. Rod B. wasn't given enough credit for what he accomplished with an injury shredded lineup.

So basically Carolina plays sound defense and then jumps on mistakes? So they play defense first? If this is the case what is the difference between what they're doing and the Trotz System?
Also the only time I feel its hard to watch Barzal is when he circles and dipsey-doodles around and turns over the puck. Basically the mistakes the Hurricanes are waiting to jump on.

I don't think you read my comment properly. I was describing how Carolina played the Islanders in last years playoffs, which is obviously just the way the Islanders play, but with scoring. My description is paraphrasing Rod, so I know I'm right....this time.

Watch Barzals linemates frozen in cement and you'll get why he's still holding the puck. The guy is a pass first player, but if nobody is giving him a target...

If this is why (it would have been for me actually) then players need to speak up! I don't watch teams like the Isles for this exact reason. It was hard to watch the Preds after I got Center Ice and started understanding what fun hockey looked like (back in the day). Our new coach isn't any better [sigh]

We need an "illegal defense, delay of entertainment" penalty

Also, "Pan" would have the clout to ignore a lot of that crap (see: Ovi)

True, but the thought of playing for a more offense oriented team like the Rangers had to be a plus for Pan, right? Pan and Mika have become highlite reel gold, and they don't have to buck the system.

Trotz is doing the best he can with what he has. He just needs another legit top 15 (league) forward to make it work. Barzal was close while Travaris was there to take most of the defensive heat.

P.S. I enjoy 3-2 games much more than 6-3, even if my team is winning. It's nice to see a blowout from time to time, but the goalie pulled in a close game is very exciting to watch, and having every goal/save have a huge affect the outcome is great. High scoring skate-and-shoot games are fun, but who wants to watch ice basketball day after day?
