Is he one of the analytics guys? 'Cause if he is, then I for sure ain't him. - GreatGigInTheSky
He’s a writer for the Athletic, and he’s a huge Dermott apologist. |

So he's one of the few guys that sees Dermott for what he is then? |

The way to build a contending team is definitely to give up on our young defensemen who are coming off an injury.

Just because a d man is young and has potential doesn’t mean he will reach it.
If you are asking my opinion, based on what I’ve seen from him I don’t see him being any better than a 4/5.
If a team Believes he will be a top 4 and is willing to trade off potential then yippe. |

Did people not watch Dermott play last season? When Rielly and Muzzin were hurt he was easily the Leafs best d-man. And he was only getting better from his major off-season surgery.
Get rid of Holl. Him being a righty is irrelevant to me. He's worse than the other guys. Give his CAP space to Dermott. - GreatGigInTheSky
The idea that Dermott was the best d-man outside of Rielly and Muzzin isn't exactly an endorsement of his quality. Who the hell else on the team is a legit NHL d-man?!
Since Holl plays RHD and his contract is very decent he gets to stay.
Since Dermott is behind Rielly, Muzzin, and Sandin* and he's RFA, he gets to be a useful asset that can help bring the Leafs home a legit, top 4 RHD.
* Yeah, sure, Dermott is ahead of Sandin at this point but Sandin is much higher on the totem poll. |

Love it! "the pot"
https://www.newsweek.com/...ure-united-states-1442742
"The National Center for Biotechnology Information, a branch of the National Institute of Health, said prior to news of the recent death in Louisiana, there had been "no known cases of fatal overdose from cannabis use in the epidemiologic literature.""
"We know from really good survey data that Americans use cannabis products billions of times a year, collectively. Not millions of times, but billions of times a year," the policy adviser said. "So, that means that if the risk of death was one in a million, we would have a couple thousand cannabis overdose deaths a year."
Soooo... maybe 1 in a trillion is more likely? |

He was underwhelming for pretty much the whole season. Looked better in the last couple of weeks.
I would like to see what he can do playing alongside Muzzin, though. - Steven_Seagull
So I guess trade Muzzin, too? |

Lefty righty don't overly matter.
Dermott >> Holl and he'll most likely get the same $$$ as Holl. So the choice which was already obvious, gets even more clear. |

Ya with Toronto being the centre of the hockey universe it will be pretty cool getting home ice advantage too.
Especially when they probably wouldn’t have had it before, but leafs can now win the cup on home ice.
