Well it sure would've been nice for the Red Wings to have a chance of drafting Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, Lecavalier, Hedman, Kane or Joe Thornton back in the day when they were winning Stanley Cups and President's trophies.

So why did the Penguins, Caps, Lightning, Hawks and Bruins deserve to draft those players? Maybe Mario Lemieux should've been drafted by the Oilers in 1984? Would you rather create a Super Elite NHL of the top 8 teams and screw everyone else?

You want to reward current successful teams who built their rosters by tanking who went on to win Stanley Cups and/or draft franchise players. But you'd like to punish current bad teams who tanked because you don't like it. Quite hypocritical. Your argument is ridiculous.

Wouldn't it have just been easier for you to say that you hate the Detroit Red Wings? And that you're happy the NHL served them a warm sandwich? MLB and the NFL don't have a draft lottery. It seems to work for them. Do you really believe what happened on Friday is any better? It's embarrassing. The NIL. No Integrity League.

The draft process seems to work for the NFL and MLB as teams all get a chance to draft in order and there are no questions or shady, behind the scenes picks made. All teams go thru a down cycle, even in the largest of the markets, but if the NIL is going to stack the deck, then there is little hope for the teams that need a kick start.

I'm in favor of a 31 (soon to be 32) team lottery where every team has 1 pick and you draw ping pong balls in ascending order for 31 to 1. It ensures no tanking and makes it fair for everyone. Each team would get the first pick, on average, once every 32 years. If you're a good team and you win the lottery, you could be adding a Sidney Crosby, or you could be adding a Patrick Stefan. It's fair.

Yeah, it’s the metro area that’s key, there. Montreal has a much bigger downtown than say, DC or Boston, and it’s similar in size to Philly, but once you take into consideration the densely populated suburbs some areas have, it slips down the ladder a little.

Population doesn't matter, ATTENDANCE and REVENUE does for league. In those areas do you still consider them MID SIZE?
